Radisson Best Price guarantee

Hi,
Has anyone any experience with this.

I'm looking at one of the Radisson properties in Europe.

The website says €115 cheapest rate as a hot deal
hotels.com gives me the same room for £77, which should equal to roughly 90 euros.

What I don't want to do is book the hotel with hot deal with a non negotiable price and then they tell me something about how there was something different about hotels.com booking.

iancanton Aug 13, 2009 2:12 pm

we once used the radisson price promise successfully at a country inn in canada in 2007. radisson granted a 25% discount from the competing rate. from the information that u've given, one difference that i can see is that the third party website rate is in a different currency. try using a version of that website which is based in a country that uses the euro. it might not matter, but it removes one potential source of argument.

http://www.radisson.com/lrg/home.do

i also once had a price promise on a holiday inn rejected because the rate conditions were different (the competing lower rate did not provide instant confirmation online).

good luck!

ian. :)

I submitted a claim for a hotel in Europe with comparison from a UK based TA. The price was double on the Radisson website and they have rejected my claim as 'exchange rates will not be considered' (see below).

This ranks as one of the most ridiculous get out of jail statements I have ever seen. I could understand if the rate was within a few pound / Euro but to be double? A collapsing of the economy could perhaps bring the rates a little closer but I don't think this is the basis for rejection.

All other elements are the same and I've even found the rate advertised in GBP on their website.

Very poor form IMO and the most ridiculous positioning I have seen from a company in a blatant attempt to shirk on a guarantee.

Renewing status if this occurs??? not on your nelly.

We appreciate your submission of a best online rate guarantee form. At
this time, we are unable to honor the claim as the rate found on
xxx.co.uk is quoted in GBP and not the local currency of the
hotel which is EURO dollars.

Per our Best Online Rate Guarantee terms and conditions, if a rate is
found on another website that is lower than the best available rate on
our brand website, customer service must be able to confirm that the
rate is for the same date(s), the same room type, the same number of
guests and the same hotel. Exchange rates will not be considered

Happily I can say that this is resolved as I found another website with price in Euro and amazingly it was mega cheap for the same rooms as on the Radisson website.

I now have the room for just over a third of the price originally quoted by Radisson.

Just as long as the hotel honour this (have the email saved and will take along) I'll be mega happy.

Quality stuff - faith restored.

Did they honor the rate?

just emailed and got a best rate quote guarantee for a Radisson in Helsinki. No change on the reservation, the rate looks the same. In the comments, they wrote, "BORGLASTMINUTE.COM?77.80LESS25%=58.35."

However, those comments are editable, and anyone can write anything (including me).

I have the email they sent me confirming this, but worried that the hotel will just charge me what is on my reservation at Radisson.

How was your experience? I'll of course bring the email with me. Also worried b/c they quoted me an average daily rate while the hotel rate changes from weekday/weekend and my stay spans both.

Lastly, having a very late checkin, so don't know if they'll charge me the full nights rate quoted on the website on the first day or the discounted agreed upon rate.

Thanks.

BRG

I found a huge price discrepancy. Radisson's site quoted $119 for the hotel, while a third party site quoted $83.30 for a $35.70 price difference. So 25% of is $62.47 which I understand is almost the employee rate. I just sent this in so I will let you know the feedback I get from Radisson. I am Gold elite so hopefully I will also be entitled to an upgrade.

We appreciate your submission of a best online rate guarantee form. We
have researched your claim and found you are correct in finding a lower
rate on another website. We have confirmed the lower rate less 25% for
you. Your rate is now $62.47 per night plus tax. Your bed type and
smoking preference has been requested but cannot be guaranteed. This
email will serve as your confirmation for the best online rate
guarantee. Your confirmation number of xxxxx will remain the same.
Please keep this information for your records.

just a marketing gimmick

can confirm post No 3. What a hoax that the website needs to be in the same currency as the hotels currency:td::td:

There are very few CHF online hotel websites so Radisson has a very easy way out of their Guarantee.

I hope they are more up to their promises when it comes to their hotels or do you just get crap as with their so-called guarantee

lowfareair Apr 14, 2011 12:14 pm

I can add my tale to the success stories - they confirmed the rate via email within 20 minutes. Took my CI&S price from $95 to $50 - not bad at all, especially given the only other hotels in the area with that price were Days Inns and Super 8s.

Jonobigblind Apr 15, 2011 11:14 am

Sorry for the delay, only just seen this thread again!

I can happily report that they did honour the rate. It was a pain to find one in Euro rather than GBP but well worth it as I paid about £30 per night for each double room (if my memory serves me correctly) instead of £100 per room per night. We also had breakfast thrown in with the rate.

Once the central booking agents accepted my rate challenge it appeared in my bookings. All was fine in check in, the stay and at check out time too.

I also received a room on a higher floor than the others and a good chunk of points for the stay so on this occasion I had my cake and ate it.

I'm using the points for one night in Sydney at the end of my honeymoon next month so all's well. :D:D

How strict is Radisson with cancellation policies? For example, if I find a completely non-refundable pre-paid radisson rate, and a rate on another site that allows you to cancel with no penalty up to five days before the stay, will that be approved?

I had a best rate claim go through where the difference was "on same day, before 1800 cancellation" vs. "day before, 1600 cancellation" restriction.

But that is a rather minor issue.

In your case I would take the flexible radisson rate and claim the best rate guarantee against that one assuming that both are non-prepaid.

lightangel Nov 18, 2011 5:36 pm

successfully got GRG rate for Radisson Hotel Chicago O'Hare. brought the rate from around $120 down to around $57. Really satisfied with this!

zink88 Nov 27, 2011 2:15 pm

Lowest rate on radisson website is $79. Applying the AAA discount takes it to $63.20 and that is what has been booked. Found a rate of $58.96 for the same hotel on easyclicktravel.com. Both rates allow cancellation without penalty up to 1 day before check-in. Is this likely to get approved, or did I need to book the non-discounted $79 rate instead? If need be, I could always cancel the current reservation and rebook at $79 then submit my request, correct?

$58.96 rate was accepted. New rate is now $44.22 + tax.

Booked the Radisson up in MKE. Hotels.com had a 30% off sale on the same property. Got that lesser price less an additional 25% no problem.

May Fair

Anyone ever been successful at finding a lower rate for the May Fair London? If so, on what site did you find the rate?

hauteboy Dec 21, 2011 10:20 am

Will they do BRG over a penny? Radisson site has $119 vs Orbitz at $118.99...

Adam1222 Jan 20, 2012 4:06 pm

The T&C explicitly say must be more than $1.00

I am having a battle right now which I don't quite understand. Night 1 = price difference of $1. Night 2 = price difference of $4. I am told "For our Best Online Rate Guarantee it is based on the nightly rate not the average of both nights comined."

Not only does this contradict the terms and conditions, it is also irrelevant, since the nights are each independently less.

Just respond to their e-mail, and spell it out clearly line by line, why you are entitled to the BRG and the price difference. Had a similar problem, so I just sent a very clear, and simple e-mail stating that they were incorrect, and why they were and it was fixed within a few hours. The only problem might be if your rate is consistently the same for all nights, but your BRG daily rates are different (i.e. Monday is $81 night, Tuesday, $85), then that might invalidate your claim, in which case, I would just rebook your trip into separate nights, then submit your claim.

Adam1222 Jan 22, 2012 12:20 pm

I did that 4 times.
They then quoted me the rate from Otel.com for 2 persons, even though the rez was for 1. I pointed that out, and then they said the rate was no longer available on Otels.com. Which is a different website.

I then just resubmitted the claim as the rate had dropped on DHR.com for both nights, and I must have gotten to a more capable agent, who confirmed the BRG within 2 hours. So now have the Radisson Santiago for $125.

100countrygoal Jan 23, 2012 5:07 pm

I previously found a marginally lower rate (about $10 lower) on Expedia for a Park Plaza hotel vs. the web site. I emailed about the price match and 25% discount. They emailed back and said they would match the rate and upgrade my room (this was before I had any status, so I wouldn't have gotten an upgrade). I thought it was a bit strange that they didn't just follow their policy and offer the 25% discount, but I was happy with the upgrade and accepted their offer.

robertwcook16 Jan 23, 2012 5:24 pm

I got a BRG approved today for the Radisson Warwick in Philadelphia, PA. The dates were Feb 18-20, 2012. On clubcarlson.com, the flexible rate was $179.00/nite - On skoosh.com, the rate was $104.00/nite including all taxes. I received the email below a couple of hours after submitting the claim.

We appreciate your submission of a best online rate guarantee form.

We have researched your claim and found you are correct in finding a
lower rate on another website. We have confirmed the lower rate less
25% for you. Your rate is now $69 per night plus tax, we have removed
the tax from the lower rate you found on skoosh.com. Without taxes the
lower rate on skoosh is $92 per night plus tax, we have calculated your
current rate from this. This email will serve as your confirmation for
the best online rate guarantee. Your confirmation number of XXXXXX will
remain the same. Please keep this information for your records.

What is the usual response time? Is it really 48 hours?

How long does it actually take for a claim to be processed? Is it really 48 hours? I submitted one claim yesterday, but did not receive any response yet. The difference between the other site and radisson.com is 20%. I booked only one night instead of 15 nights I need to see if it will be approved since it is non refundable rate. If it really takes 48 hours I prefer to make booking on another web site instead of taking the chances of loosing better rate or not being approved at all.
Thanks,
yus

robertwcook16 Jan 27, 2012 6:45 am

For me, it has been processed in less than 18-24 hours. I have sunbmitted a claim in the evening and receive a response usually by noon the next day. I have also submitted in the morning and received a response by noon of that same day. It seems that they process the claims late morning...

Has anybody had any success with finding a BRG for a hotel in Europe (specifically Germany or France?). Going there soon, and would like to get an even better deal on a Carlson hotel if they are out there....I've been checking some of the third party booking sites, but havent come across one yet (and I'm sure there has to be something out there, but I just havent found the site).

I just had a BRG approved this morning for a Radisson Blu in Helsinki. The rate on their site was $240, and I found a rate on olotels for $109. They took the additional 25% off and I'm only paying $80!! I was shocked that it was approved. I like using booking buddy to get quick and easy access to a large number of third party sites. It paid off this time!

Yes, got a BRG on the Radisson Blu Rome a few weeks ago.

WARNING

I believe the below are new terms that may have been added to the Best Rate Guarantee:

Q: Is there a time window that I need to submit a claim within to activate the Best Online Rate Guarantee?

A: You must submit a claim within 24 hours of the original booking, and at least 48 hours prior to your arrival. If the Best On-Line Rate Guarantee claim is approved, full prepayment will be billed to the credit card you provided on your reservation. Advance payment of $25.00 USD is non-refundable. Cancellations made within 3 days of arrival will be charged 1 night plus tax.
I do not know of any other company that has such terms/pernalties.

Moreover, please be aware that Radisson puts no time limit on when they are to contact you about your claim.

Previously I had found them fast, but another claim I had just submitted had passed the 56 hour mark without an affirmative response, just 2 replies that they will get back to me soon, after I had contacted them twice -- I canceled the claim and reservation without penalty as they never got back to me with a definitive response.

thomas199023 Apr 21, 2012 4:54 am

Same hotel, same dates, two reservation, found rate of 180€ at teh CC website. At Olotels they were selling at 99€. Did two seperate BRG claims as I had one res booked in my name and one in a friend's. Two different responses:

We appreciate your submission of a best online rate guarantee form. We
have researched your claim and found you are correct in finding a lower
rate on another website. We have confirmed the lower rate less 25% for
you. Your rate is now 73.50 EUR per night plus tax. This email will
serve as your confirmation for the best online rate guarantee. Your
confirmation number of BJ9PTBY will remain the same. Please keep this
information for your records.

We appreciate your submission of a best online rate guarantee form. We have researched your claim and found our rate does not include
breakfast. The third party site, (Olotels.com) has the deluxe room with
breakfast. Please note, rates are subject to change. At this time, we
are unable to honor the lower rate since the rates are not the same.
Probably going to have to cancel the whole stay, as Im not going to pay 180€ a night there, be it for one room.

chistery Apr 25, 2012 12:44 pm

How does the BRG work with prepaid rates? If successful, will they credit the difference immediately?

Ambraciot May 7, 2012 2:22 pm

Is this an unusual post BRG rate summary?

Sun May 27, 2012 $0.00 USD
Room 1 Cost $0.00 USD
Estimated Taxes $1.00 USD
Estimated Additional Fees $0.00 USD
Total Estimated Cost
for 1 Room $1.00 USD

Special Requests: VALID BORG- $77.68 USD LESS 25% = $58.26 USD
I'm actually pretty ambivalent between them giving me a free night or giving me the 50k promo bonus points, either way it's a good deal.

My BRG reservation is showing the same thing. Do BRG stays earn Club points at the lower paid rate?

hummel May 14, 2012 5:43 pm

Will ClubCarlson beat a rate with ebates 13% cashback?

Can get room on Hotelclub for $160 (Club Carlson same price) but with 13% ebates offer bring it down to around $140.

Thoughts?

Adam1222 May 14, 2012 5:56 pm

Radisson doesn't care about your ebate. It cares about the rate you book at.

DrSifu May 18, 2012 2:45 pm

what happens if I submit a BRG based on a lower advertised price after my reservation is made and then the website re-adjust it's price to align with Radisson before I get a response?

I took screenshots, so am hoping to use those as proof.

Anyone else been in this situation and what was the outcome?

Thank you

EDIT: BRG requires the lower advertised price still be effective at the time that they perform the price check, whenever that may be. In my case, I got a response back in 26 hrs. I just sent them screenshots and will update with outcome.

The screenshots sent via email didn't work since they said the attachment was too large. So i faxed in the screenshots which contained a time stamp on the bottom corner on a Monday and received a response on a Thursday approving the BRG.

Moral of the story, take screen shots.

How can I submit a BRG claim with Club Carlson? I found only a form which needs to be faxed. Is this how it works? Can I not submit a BRC claim online?

If you're doing a Park Inn, it depends if its a Rezidor or Carlson property. The links are right on the page. If its a Carlson property, you can do it online just like a Radisson. If its a Rezidor, you have to fax. I'd click the Carlson link either way and see if it works.

aviator8 May 21, 2012 8:54 pm

I saw it was asked but not answered.

If I have booked a nigh at a points earning rate of 89/night, then i sent in a BRG claim for a rate matching everything (date, guests/room type/etc) for 71/nt. If they approve the BRG will it still be considered a points earning stay? I would think so since the original booking was, but I want to get some real world experience. This will be for the Big night giveaway promo.
