Is Concierge level worth it?

Hello All:
By the end of December 2012, I will be one night short of 75 needed to hit Concierge level!
Was wondering if I should make an additional 1-night stay to get to Concierge level?

Almost all of my travel is to one Radisson hotel in Minneapolis (work-related). The only real benefit for me would be the 25% bonus points. Any thoughts/recommendations from the experts?

Also, assuming that any level reached at end of December will be valid for the following year. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance!

The status last to Feb 2014.

Extra points and +1000 booking bonus should easily justify a one night MR.

Better chance of upgrades and free breakfast might be useful.

BTW, if you havent't maxed out the 6000 points per night promo the stay almost pays for itself.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response chrisljo! Appreciate the feedback!

Not so keen on the breakfast because my corporate rate already gets me the free breakfast. It's the 25% additional bonus points that is attractive to me :)

BTW, wasn't able to find the promo that you reference above on the Radisson home page.

Thanks!

You're kidding me!!!. I know that sounds harsh (sorry, just wanted to make a point), but with that many nights, you have to pay more attention to these boards for promos etc.

You;ve probably had at least 10 nights since Oct 1. You could easily have had an extra 60,000 pts, maybe 120,000

I would think that just for the extra points, it would be worth 1 more night.

$100 spent for a 1 night stay will give you 6500 points as concierge. Gold will net you 5000. 1500 diff x 75 nights will get you 112,500 extra points. Assuming all your stays are for 1 night each, and the numbers may chanage if you stay more than 1 night per stay, but still worth 1 more night.

Not even taking into account anything spent on food and beverage, which will give you more extra points.

Go for it

One counter argument might be:

if you do another night this year you get Concierge for the rest of this year (!) and 2013. And no nights credit carried forward.

On the other hand if you leave it at 74 for this year your concierge remains valid until Feb 2013 but you drop to gold. However you carry forward 39 nights credit (=74-35) so will only need a further 36 nights in 2013 to make Concierge for the rest of 2013 AND 2014!! That's actually a net cost of an extra 35 nights since you won't have done the one this year.
depending how quickly you can do 36 nights in the new year, and whether you would be likely to re-qualify as Concierge in 2013 anyway, the second option may be better!! especially if you could do those 36 before end of Feb.

Hi jbvideo:
I should pay attention! Problem is that I have to use my corporate site to book. And there is no place where I can put in a "promo" code.

Thanks for the heads-up!

That's an interesting argument! I should evaluate that option as well. Thanks for the tip!

Bravo! Excellent advice about how rollover nights have changed things. Personally I made a similar calculation last year and decided not to go for concierge in order to assure an easy gold renewal this year (my travel patterns changed so otherwise I wouldn't have renewed.)

Strange. When I register, it says that I am already registered. But my statement online doesn't show any bonus points awarded for any of my stays.

As a Gold-level member, I get 2500 every stay as a discretionary award from the property manager. Perhaps that's cancelling the bonus points...

chrisljo Dec 21, 2012 10:33 am

The bonus will post in january.

I dont think any of our statements indicate anything about the number of bonus points we will receive. I haven't been awarded any points as yet. They will be added sometime in January.

Its good that you seem to be registered. Customer service can tell you how many nights you have. They told my total is 20, so i am at the max.

As long as you are registered, you do not have to enter any promo code when making a reservation.

Thats awesome on the discretionary points. How did you manage that?

Go for it, just one night, thats nothing. You can do a cheap C&P stay. If it were more nights, then I would think about it, but since you are almost there, do it.

Roll over strategy sounds good, but it is a gamble, I would go with a more conservative approach
