QRPC displaying phantom availability for redemptions
Trying to get rid of my remaining Qmiles, i failed two times in 3 weeks to ticket redemption flights on QR. The process happens as follows:
- redemption is shown as available on QR app, and QR website. - ticketing process goes smoothly until payment - payment goes smoothly then bam instead of your pnr ref, you get a message saying "error call supervisor" The first time it happened, about 3 weeks ago, i tried to fix the issue by calling Qatar, sending screenshots, etc... To no avail. I m pissed because despite receiving my input, Qatar Airways hasn't fixed the issue after 3 weeks. |
If it’s not phantom availability try to book over the phone or by sending and email request to QRPC through their contact form.

I tried of course, many phone calls and emails with screenshot from the website showing availability, no solution from Qatar Airways.

By the way, did you try with QR app instead of QR website, or with QR Global English website (which is usually the less prone to errors) ? |
Both the app and QR global english website display the phantom availability.
Thanks for the BAEC suggestion, but unfortunately i m not a BAEC member. |

You can also use the AA award tool to see if there's availability.
I made a redemption a few weeks ago which went smoothly after I was contacted by @goingplacestogether. |

It's not any better when upgrading with qCredits. I see a flight segment available, when I try to upgrade I receive OTP by e-mail. Then I enter the code and get this error message:
We are experiencing technical difficulties at the moment. Please click on Upgrade Request Form below for further assistance. Currency value is incorrect Maybe I should get KVS tool because ExpertFlyer is not useful for QR :( |

Agreed. In the 18 days from 9th to 26th July I can see 1 day with no availability, 3 days with "Q2" availability and 14 with regular availability. That's more than just a blip when compared to KVS findings above.

Can you tell us if this issue of phantom upgrade availability in "U" Class being displayed is being addressed by Qatar, and is there a target date for fixing? |

Can you update us on the query above? I have flights I'd like to book, expiring Qcredits I'd like to use, flexibility of dates and would like to combine them to book a flight and immediately upgrade. For everyone else, it's been said JL or BA or AA sites can also display QR upgrade inventory. I have no accounts or mileage currency with any of these. Will I be able to join and identify upgrades as a beginner and, any particular one you would recommend? |
