Infuriated by Qatar upgrade process

it’s probably me reading too much into it , although I cannot understand how some customers can do it online with success and others cannot , but not being an IT wizz I suspect you may be correct in the assumption it’s their website being buggy, as many of the other functions on it also play up. Yes I succeeded in the end and am going to try the same tomorrow when I fly back so will see what happens at a remote station rather than in DOH. Hope it works out just frustrating you have to wait until you fly , as it’s sometmes nice to know before hand. It’s a treat for me not an expectation so we will see. Cheers

Just by way of an update for those interested . Looked to use some expiring miles to upgrade my return BKK to DOH sector yesterday from J to F . Checked expert flyer two days ago and it showed 7 seats available . Went on to both the APP and website through my PC log in and attempted to use online functionality of said upgrade. Needless to say epic fail neither could even bring up my reservation. So gave up and decided to get to the airport approx 4 hours before my flight left knowing that there were 2 other earlier flights so check in should be open and in full swing. Best laid plans - massive storm in BKK so taxi ride through the traffic and flooding meant I made it 3 hours before. In my boredom in the taxi I checked EF again and saw that availability had dropped to two seats so my. Chances were eroding . Went to ticket desk and a charming agent took the details made a call , filled in the form then escorted me to F checkin and processed the upgrade I got second to last seat. So all good in the end but was another tender hooks moment and would have been disappointed as the miles only had 9 weeks left and then they were to expire. Still cannot fathom out why the website will not process this ( in my case ) but others have success- but that’s QR these days .

Redemption seats are limited and capacity controlled therefore, there are limitations on the number of seats available for redemption on any given flight. Certain days/periods may have no award seat availability; this is a global industry practice and is a function of flight forecast.


It does seem however, that they are replying to emails sooner in the last week or so ... but yeah, they won't entertain any requests on the phone so just keep sending them emails.
After having issues with my 1st sector upgrade, I have since managed to upgrade online (either via website or the QR app) with no issues
I used QMiles for LAXDOH & when I got 40 new QCredits 2 days ago, via the app for SINDOH
Hopefully I will be able to upgrade the last remaining sector (DOHLAX) using Qmiles, early next month when I have got sufficient miles in the acct. (after my BOS flight)
If so, I'll get to experience QSuites on all sectors ^
