I'm having difficulty understanding any explanation other than a mistake.

The alternative suggestion being offered appears to be that someone in BA wanted to open up a fare opportunity for known individuals. I'm sure the airline has mechanisms in place for offering generous discounts without manipulating publicly available fares and allowing outsiders to seep into the deal: so this would be down to a rogue manager.

Perhaps I've got the wrong end of the stick. Even so, I think the fat finger scenario would be Occam's preference.

Could your contact be offered some complimentary LPGS for some new suggested route sales?

Not saying it wasn't a mistake. Simply saying that I know the precise moment the mistake was realized by someone in the same department and that the timing was very shrewd in when it was pulled, as opposed to many we've seen, where they take off in the middle of the night and no one can stop the bleeding until it's too late.

In your line of work (assuming you still work for the same company as a fellow FTer), I'd have thought alcohol bottles would be the last thing you'd need!

You are, indeed, quite right, but they're like tier points - you can never have too many!

This is a strange one.... my EDI-DOH, and DOH-LHR seats are showing as available on Expert Flyer. Would there be any reason for this?

There was a strange bug when selecting 7 and 8A on the EDI-DOH where it was bumping us back to 3E&F when saving, but it seems to have now saved 7 and 8A.

The seats are confirmed on Qatar 'My Booking' and also I've put the PNR into Check My Trip and they're coming up on there too. But still showing as available on EF.

It's because of the codeshare. If you go to BA.com MMB and try to select seats it'll give you a Qatar PNR, which despite both of them using Amadaeus is different. Seat reservations made through the QR PNR seem to show in ExpertFlyer.

I've had the same issue. Our seats keept shifting. Not sure if it's BA or QR who are shuffling but it's the EDI/DOH and DOH/LHR (BA7009) that keeps moving. It does now appear to have settled down but doesn't explain the seat shuffling.

Booked on ba.com.
I got a confirmation email, credit card debited and was able to update my API. I also received an email with seat allocations. (BA silver)
Just tried moving our seats on Qatar's website but was unable to on PEN-DOH and DOH-LHR. I looked on BA.com in Maange my Booking and both legs are now marked ' Flight not available. Please contact airline.' Other flights are showing ok and I can move / reserve seats.

We are not travelling until early 2019. Advice please?

Highly suggest calling QR and getting your QR PNR rather than the BA option. For anyone with QSuites on any segment, especially those booked for two, QR have blocked out all the "double bed" seats in the middle for partners, but if you login via your Qatar booking the entire seat map becomes available.

no need to call, the QR PNR is shown on the seat selection page on BA MMB as noted a few posts up.

however you choose to avail your QR PNR, I'm just saying that it brings up interesting anomalies, such as the wider seat selections which are blocked out via BA PNR, and in my case "I" fare classes instead of "R".

yes this is inevitable since the BA PNR is not the one for the operating airline, seat maps and seat selection should be done via the operating airline PNR which in this case is the QR one. the codeshare PNR (in this case the BA one) often may not reflect correct seat maps or seat selection, but that isn't something to be worried about.

what QR shows as booking class is not really relevant, they are not the marketing airline and neither are they the ticketing airine. it is BA who would be awarding points based on the fare class they show in BA MMB.
