Is anyone planning to credit these to QRPC?

Curious whether the flights will earn at the normal QR rates (including tier bonus) or partner rates for BA?

this is a BA fare and the flights are booked under the BA codeshares so they should earn based on what ever rates BA marketed flighst credit to QRPC.

You sure that's CET rather than UTC? I'm pretty sure people booked successfully as late as 2 pm CET (3 pm CEST/1 pm UTC). My payment authorization went through at 12:06:01 pm UTC but it was followed by an error message from BA.

I seem to have booked at 1346 UK time which is 1246 UTC.

I believe you are correct makrom. As can be seen by my first posts in this thread I started booking the fare shortly before 2 pm but wasn't able to finish the payment process by just a couple of minutes (a bit frustrating to miss it by just a few seconds). Immediately after I ran several additional searches and the fare was gone from BA's system and it took around ~10m to disappear from all OTAs.

As a (strange) side note, after the fare was gone from everywhere Expedia was showing a mysterious EDI-DOH-KUL-PEN in J for 800$ in a mix of QR/MH while the same exact route in Y it was pricing at 900$. Fare wasn't bookable though. (Yes, the original fare was also gone from Expedia)

Yes, or 1:45 CET. I think IAANN meant UTC when he said "11.49 CET and gone at 1.07 CET" in which case your booking would be well within. I probably added to the confusion though, I should have said "my payment authorisation went through at 1:06:01 UTC".

I've started a WIKI for those who are flying.

For those who havent posted their flights, but have stated their dates, could I encourage you to add your dates?

Safe travels,

M

While I congratulate, with a certain degree of envy, those who managed to book this fare, I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would fly all the way to PEN - and immediately turn round and fly back again.

I am not ignorant of the existence of TP runs, and understand that for some their journey might first and foremost be a TP-accumulation exercise. But for goodness sake, this is Penang we’re talking about as a destination - with the rest of Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore all on the doorstep, with all that those countries have to offer.

Mrs PtF and I were in Penang earlier this year (at Chinese New Year) and had an absolutely wonderful four days there, so much so that we can’t wait to return for a longer visit.

I dare say that if there had been similarly priced flights to SIN, BKK, KUL, et al, FTers would have booked.

However, there weren't, so PEN it is!

PEN is a worthwhile destination in its own right. Georgetown itself is worth a few days of anyone’s time - to explore the history, architecture, culture, food, etc. Six hours at the airport (or a quick dash to somewhere nearby) just seems such a wasted opportunity.

My other point is that all the destinations you have listed - SIN, KUL, BKK - are all just a short hop from PEN, making a back-to-back at PEN all the more questionable. However, to each their own.
