Best J seats on 350 and 380
Hi - regular BA flyer but just booked in J on QR for OSL-BNE and then MEL-ARN. I'm wondering what seats to go for/avoid in J on both the A350-900 and A380-800? Selection is wide open at the moment. Any advice is appreciated!

Window seats not too close to the galleys, toilets, bar or economy section?

I don't think either of those planes has bad C seats. "Regular" A350 row 1 has wider foot area. Row 6 might be a bit close to the toilet. Row 1 and first eco row behind 9 have bassinets. Bar between row 6 and 7 is usually no source of noise. Middle seats have no vents. I personally pick window row 4 or close to it, but don't sweat it if you get another seat.
A380 first row (10) has bassinets, no Y bassinets in hearing range anywhere. Seats in the rear are close to the bar, but while the bar gets used much more than in the A350, not much noise makes its way into the cabin. All window seats have limited views due to the massive wings, but gorgeous extra storage on the window side (typical for A380 upper deck). All in all I think QR did a great job providing comparable comfort for all seats across the cabin. The only seats of the same design that are clearly inferior are those in row 6 on the 787. |
In the end I went for row 8 as I like the look of the smaller cabin. Looking forward to trying the QR J that I have heard a lot about.

When I flew on the A350 in November 2017 we flew in the center seats in row 4 and row 7. Both were really nice, but we preferred row 7 - we enjoyed the wood panel look in front of us, and there is a slightly different shape that allowed for slightly more space (no curved seat ahead of you, just a flat wood panel). Not too much disturbance from the center area.

Hi, are the toilets at the front of the A380 J cabin for business or first? We mistakenly booked near the front of the Emirates cabin thinking would be close to the loos but they were for first only so had to trek to the back. thanks Crowe |
Crowe, they are the Business class toilets. The first class bathrooms are infont of the first class.

Thanks |
