QR First Timer
Hello,
I'm soon to embark on my first flights with QR. LHR - DOH - CCU and back in J. I have read most of the info threads on this forum and they have been very helpful in terms of transit at DOH and the lounges etc. Is there anything else anyone can mention that will make for a easy trip? Of particular interest is the service on the CCU - DOH flight as it leaves at 0340 local. Is it a 'sleeper' style service? Regards, Kernow |
For those not up to scratch on their IATA codes, CCU is Kolkata (Calcutta).
QR don't offer a 'Sleeper service', akin to that of BA. Expect a dinner service after takeoff, and a light breakfast prior to landing at DOH. My top-tip would be to take your own earplugs (to drown out the noise of banging cutlery). M |

I personally can't stand having earplugs in my ears, such an annoying feeling! And usually they don't stay put neither!
I was an early-backer of theirs, and they've gone from strength to strength. M |

Off-topic to a degree, but I recommend Isolate from Flare Audio.

Do they stay in better than regular foam ear plugs?
I've used them on 10-15 longhaul trips, and found them to be very comfortable, and very well fitting - plus the metal ends make them easy to remove. They weigh next to nothing, so there is no feeling of 'weights' in your ears. They don't block out the sound completely, but then again no earplugs do. M |

They do - they literally don't move!

Thanks for the tips.
I'll look into the earplugs. |

I fully expect people here to instantly know what I mean when I say that I used to fly from PEL to MSU. |

M I've never had issues with noise from banging cutlery, so the provided headsets have always been sufficient. |
Getting back to the OP question, on my QR flights it seemed they ran out of catering towards the end of the flight; out of that wine, no more of those smoothies.
If there is something that you want to try, make sure you get a hold of it in advance in the first half of the flight. Don't wait until the end. Enjoy the lounge in DOH. |
Thanks worldtraver 73. I am flying them J for the first time in Sept. I will be connecting in DOH to CPT. That is an early morining flight so this is good information.
