lovefly88 are all your flights on one reservation (PNR) or several? If one you should be able to check your baggage in all the way to your final destination (CPT).
The hand baggage rules are very clear "One piece, not to exceed 7 kg (15lb)
Maximum hand baggage dimensions are 50x37x25cm (20x15x10in) each.
In addition to your hand baggage allowance, you can also carry personal items such as one ladies handbag or one small briefcase, one coat, cape or blanket, one umbrella, one pair of crutches or walking stick, one small camera or binoculars, limited reading material, an infant’s carrying basket, and duty-free items purchased on the day of your flight.
Laptops and laptop bags have to fit within your hand baggage allowance."
Your backpack, laptop and your carry-on combined must fit into the weight limit of 7kg. As must any other items not listed above.
QR usually ignore small amounts of overweight but not excessive ones such as you are suggesting.
There are apparently luggage lockers at the airport both air side and land side. But apart from the lounge lockers I have absolutely no details.

Remdk thanks for your response. It is not on the same PNR all the way. In a flurry of getting the tickets booked I did on QR DOH-JNB-DOH rather than DOH-CPT, JNB-DOH and by time I thought of it the prices had went back up. Our rt JNB-CPT is on Kulula with a 2 hour time difference between landing in JNB and taking off for CPT, hence my hesitancy to check the bags. I would have to wait for them, clear customs, and get checked in to the next flight in a small time frame.

kaiotes your baggage allowance will be the standard allowance for rhe class of travel on the DOH-BKK sector. This is the Most significant Sector and, unless QR give you the F allowance for the entire journey, is what you are entitle to for the entire journey. The actual baggage allowance is shown on your E-ticket. Because of mixed classes QR can give you a greater baggage allowance than the IATA Resolution 302 requires but it is up to them. They are not required to do so.

This is a vague answer because you give no details of the cabin class, and indeed carrier, for the DOH-BKK sector. I am assuming cabin class J on QR.

I am in F DOH-BKK. I thought what was relevant was the Cai-Doh portion?
I dont think the following is relevant but this an Award ticket w AA miles.

I recently bought a ticket CAI-DOH-MNL-DOH-AMS. CAI-DOH is in First, the rest of the itin in J. My ticket states a baggage allowance of 65kgs for the entire journey.

kaiotes as R2 points out your baggage allowance is 65 kg. I missed the special baggage rule for flights from Africa! Sorry.

Luggage allowance is generally based upon the Most Significant Sector which need not be the first sector on your ticket. This is governed by IATA resolution 302 which ensures that you have the same allowance throughout your journey.

OW bonus baggage allowance for ALL passengers on a reservation?
I have not seen this before but on my OLCI Boarding passes for MUC-DOH-HKG in J there was the following statement:- "Free checked baggage allowance per customer • Adults and Children : 55 kg".
Does this mean that all passengers on a reservation have the OWS bonus 15 kg allowance? It is certainly a change from the older "Free checked baggage per passenger • Adults and Children : Not to exceed 40 kg and a maximum dimension of 406 cm (length + height + width)."

Checking in more (adding) bags during transit?

Can you check in additional bags during a transit in DOH as long as you stay below your entire allowance?

For example, flying OSL-DOH-AKL in J, so 40kg (basic) allowance. If I check in a 25kg bag in OSL, through checked to AKL, can I add a 10kg bag in DOH (after shopping in the souk, for example) giving a total 35kg on arrival in AKL?

I am thinking that I will leave the airport during my transit with a spare bag, do some souvenir shopping, then go to the baggage counters at DOH before passing security and continuing on with my flight. I might buy things that are either a bit heavy to carry on board, or not allowed in hand baggage.

First Class Multiple Carriers Baggage Allowance Question

Searched in vain to confirm my baggage allowance on upcoming flight, but wanted to see if anyone else knows definitively.

Here is my flying situation, flights are paid tickets and I have Oneworld Emerald Status (on AA):

DOH-FRA (F on QR)
FRA-LHR (J on BA)
LHR-BOS (F on BA)

From looking at QR baggage site, it appears allowance is in the "Flights to and from all others countries," which would imply unlimited number of pieces concept, subject to max weight of 110 lbs for all checked bags.

However, since this itinerary covers multiple flights on another carrier than QR, would this be considered an interline and would then the most significant carrier rule apply? If so, BA allows 3 pieces of checked luggage of up to 70 lbs per bag. I also have Emerald One world Status (AA), which would then be an additional, 4th bag @ 70 lbs each? So 280 lbs of luggage in total? I believe that is the answer, but its not totally clear online, so I figured I would ask the pros!

remdk Nov 12, 2019 1:21 pm

77WBoeing since LHR-BOS is your most significant sector (Crosses IATA Area 2-Area 1 boundary) the luggage rules for that flight govern your basic baggage allowance. This should be shown on your reservation.
To this you can add your OWE bonus of 1 piece.

Note that the piece concept applies to your entire journey since you are flying into IATA Area 1 (The Americas).

Great, thanks very much. That is what I thought too. When I login to my reservation on Qatar website, it says 2 bags included (which I didn't think was accurate). I'll chalk up the seemingly erroneous online allowance of "2 bags" to QR's shoddy IT systems not picking up on the nuances of my reservation described herein.

Pretty sure that's a glitch, it doesn't apply to all pax on a booking.

Thank you
x2 I Cross posted and you responded to both :)

Follow up question, I added my OW sapphire to the reservation, still showing me 30kg vs the 55k
Do they do that in airport?
