I am not a newbie and have been lounging around here for years. But, I STILL do not understand all these gosh darn acronyms. What is WP and SG? I assume WP means oneWorld Platinum and SG means Saphire Gold? ? Anyone, Bueller?

They all came about at this session after many HP's in the QP (being the Qantas Pub of course).
As well as WP and SG we have PS and NB status. These terms are in no way meant to be derogatory or demeaning. Its just the Aussie way of paying out on each other in the most friendly of manners.
Now that you know the WP and SG meanings, have a go at the PS and NB acronyms and see how you get on.

I know all the other acronyms, but the one I've never figured out is 'HP' - I have a suspicion that they are James Boags but I'm not sure how you get HP from James Boag. Can anyone shed any light?

A totally untrue suggestion would be that Boags is the product that is drived after the consumption of too many HPs. As I say, untrue, because both are very pleasant and refreshing...

HP = Hahn Premium
To add:
Not to be confused with HP sauce. A bottle of that and you'd be in real trouble.

My handle was born at that meeting (for obvious reasons), but I can't remember who was the instigator (in the drunken haze of HP's). The cleaner that night would have had a shock to see the vast numbers of empty HP's and HPL's in the FT corner

NB = Nobody Bronze

Now I geddit!
I'm not a big fan of HP - too bland and gassy for my tastes. Cascade, Coopers or Little Creatures are my Aussie beers of choice...
