NM Thanks for your kind words..I am a restrained sort of guy.
" The 00xxxxx FF numbers are a bit of an anomaly. If you joined in early 90's and have a 001 number, it is a fair bet you joined the Australian Airlines FF program or were even a Flight Deck member prior to the FF program commencing. "

Now your comments made me llok up some old files. I originally joined in 1988 with a number 15,000+. And the program was called Flight Deck..are the unused guest passes I still have valid?

And then in 11/92 also acquired the current number 10XXX. Then about December 92 it seemed to acquire the 2 extra zero's at the front that you mentioned, then both memberships were merged.

My reference to 4.1 million plus was for my son's membership which began in Dec 2002.

Thanks kindly NM, you prompted a little walk down memory lane on my QF FF history.
I note your AA/TN comment.

Now do you know if I can still use:
a) undated unused Flight Deck guest passes ?
b) undated unused blue/white Qantas Club passes ?
c) I also have June 2003 expiry cards ( I can work that one out). Do you know when they started dating them?

And finally to get back on the topic of "improving status" , I thought I'd pass on a run I am doing Mon to Thurs next week.

You might recall the Qantas sale on Dec 29th/30th from memory. I managed to grab some web tickets, as I sure hundreds of lurkers also have done.

6 legs Mon to reach Gold, booked MEL Formule 1 3 nights times $59 then 4 sectors Tue, 4 sectors Wed, 2 Thurs back to SYD.

Sorry to bring it back on topic, but want to stay on side with the moderator.

Unlike some of us around here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Looks like I guessed right on the FLight Deck and TN->QF program http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif.

a) no, they stopped them a few years ago http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
b) I believe so. I keep pulling them out every now and again and have not been refused. I think they would like to see the end of them, but as noted previously they seem to multiple when you turn the lights off.
c) The earliest dated ones I can find expired in Dec 2001, so I assume they came out in 2000 - but that is just my speculation.

Great to hear http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif. Pitty you didn't book this for later in Feb and pass through BNE on 21st. Perhaps we can convince QF to offer special FT fares for people to attend!

Don't worry about him. I have been trying as hard as I can to keep things off topic, but he hasn't rebuked me yet http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif. But I have promised to "buy" him a drink at the BNE QC lounge on Feb 21st http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif.

But I do like the mix of on and off topic discussion around here. Please stay active.

Don't forget that I worked for Qantas from 1994 until 1998, and staff are explicitly prohibitted from being a member of the QFFP.

Was a TN Flight Deck member back from 1987 until 1991 though.

Coming into topic a bit late 'coz have been doing a flying trip at 1 m altitude from South Oz to Sydney - geez it's thirsty weather out there - tried a "West End" lager - no wonder its called "rear end"....

Mrs og should be part of this as she has a 009xxxx QFFF number (formerly Australian Airlines). I can only rank in the younger members with a 02xxxxx number (still, its better than having no leading "0" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ).

Ok Dave - you've now been reinstated to demigod status. Only 100 more status credits required to achieve lifetime guru level http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

God, I have missed checking the ite for a couple of days...NM, likewise I was a FD 150XX member (joined Feb 89) and transferred to QF on 0056XXX. Now I undersand why Dave only joined a couple of years ago. We probably annoyed him between 91 and 94 , so he thought he'd join us http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Actually (back on the topic Willyroo http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif ), I'm wondering whether if I get to 2,600 SC's by end Feb (my year end), whether I should ask Qantas for extension of my Plat status for the following year - I've both qualified (1,400) and re-qualified (1,200) in the same year. One can only ask http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif. Has anybody else been so unlucky to travel so much and asked the question?

(Note to self: re-acquaint myself with Fiancee on Wed night http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ideasmilie.gif, she's probably forgotten what you look like )

GoldFlyer Feb 4, 2003 12:35 am

I'm not sure how you will go with your original request Lindsay but I hope at least that you have given your other 1/2 to be the companion Gold Card.

It's an interesting point however. Perhaps they may promote you to the Chairmans Lounge as a reward for your support.

Last year I did enough for partner Gold membership. But Mrs NM is not currently a QF FF member and I don't have any "partner" registered - so QF just ignored it. When I asked they said they would send out a kit for me to nominate a "partner" for this comp gold membership, but they never did. I wonder if they will give it to me/her this year, even though I didn't get enough TC's for it - but didn't use it last year?

You would do well to get reacquainted well BEFORE the night you are to be wed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

She is welcome to the 21st Feb event. Tell her you are taking her out for a few drinks and nibbles - no need to mention the rest of the riff-raff (ie. me) that will be there.

Dave, getting re-acquainted tonight - nice use of my abbreviation though http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redface.gif Wedding on 30 August, and we are flying BNE/SYD/SIN/DPS with CB on my b'day (31/8), so I should hope that is one day I can be guaranteed an upgrade!!!

NM, she was a FF and noted as Partner, so now very Gold and loving it (particularly upgrades to J with my points). We're savings hers at present...I earn more quickly.

Whether I invite her...hhhmmm...will think about it...meeting you two might be too much for her http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif

LindsayWilson Feb 5, 2003 12:19 am

GoldFlyer, interesting point, I'll follow up on that one...but what is the difference between Chairmans Club and F lounge anyway??

My godfather used to me in CC back in the days when it was the place to get into!!
