QF code on train services
Does 1000 minimum miles apply to these? Any one know the add-on fare (must be sold in conjunction with QF flight)?
|
OH no.....
I feel a trip to Parabadoo coming on....
NM, can you give me a lift in your bus please ? :D |
From QF agents web site
..the codeshare would allow customers to connect with Intercity-Express (ICE) rail services from Frankfurt Airport to Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. .... ... .. . Reservations for the new codeshare services can be made via Qantas on 131313, or through licensed travel agents. |

FWIW, one came through automatically and the other required a manually. |
I don't understand these rail code shares. Does it mean QF is responsible for selling a certain number of seats on each train? Or is it gimmicky marketing?

It opens up further possibilities, particularly with RTW products, whereby you don't have to pay for the rail add-on, it is included in the airfare.

Does anybody know if you can book the segments separatly?
Maybe my solution to get my 4 Segments on QF! LH had some very cheap milage-runs in the past. I see good old times coming back. |
Sydney - Dusseldoff is bookable on line on the QF Au web site
15:50 Sydney 05:50 Frankfurt QF5 07:44 Frankfurt 09:12 Dusseldorf QF3941 QF3941 is listed as aircraft type TRN and with a stopover in Cologne Cologne Railway |
Can you check through your luggage to Dusseldorf? ;)
|
I assume this means if QF are running late they'll look after you if you miss your train. Flew to FRA last year and QF were 2 hrs late, due to mech probs in SIN, and we missed our train and were out of pocket several hundred $$. Although, to QF's credit after intially unsuccessfully pursuing through Travel Insurance (at QF's request), QF came good with the $$$ (but only because I was a WP).

No through check in process is available from a QF flight to the QF Deutsche Bahn service (or vice versa). |
I wouldn't call this marketing. I think this is a good customer service allowing overseas visitors to Germany to get a good connection without the hassle of having to buy a train ticket in a foreign country. And if you even get miles for it: Great. I have a trip coming up to HAJ soon, so I might give it a try.
