So what? menus change

The obvious answer to the question is to choose something that is on the menu

If it was that popular , would it have been removed

it is even easier if the item isn't on the menu

Are you suggesting that QF is positively responding to customer desires?

If it is no longer on the menu, perhaps it is too costly to procure / produce for the customers compared to other items. Cost cutting ......

Oh, and casually scanning what people are eating in the QF SYD or MEL Flounges, S&P Squid is quite popular.

It's so nice that QF's mishaps went down from "hole blown in the fuselage of a 747 midflight" to "my favorite weird dish disappeared from their menu". I bet UA were glad if something like would get more attention than "unaccompanied child on plane to wrong country" or "passenger beat up and detained by staff members."

The 2019 MEL/SYD winter and LAX summer menus all have had it on the menu last time I saw.

Maybe the OP's question is Hypothetical.

In my case if it were gone and had been replaced with something else it would give another option as I won't order it.

Since being served rancid S&P squid in SYD First back around 2009 I haven't had it again.

Once disconcerting experience I had a year or three ago was at LAX around 7pm was when they precooked a bulk load of S&P squid causing a foul miasma of greasy squiddy steam to erupt from the kitchen, spilling through the nearby dining area.

Ha Ha - read title too quickly and thought QF no longer provided salt&pepper with meals - like some high end restaurants do not (they feel their meals are perfect without adding S&P).
