Doubletree is roughly across the river from Aloft so not much further from PER airport ... wont be as posh as the Aloft, whch is across the road from Crown Casino. Nearer the airport are only small non-chain hotels that are unlikely to be open at 2am when you arrive. Bit of a wasteland as there isn't much demand from transit pax.

The Doubletree is in Northbridge, which will add roughly 5 minutes at non-peak times. The Aloft is a lot closer than that to the airport.

As mentioned, just make sure that the hotel has 24 hours check in, and they are aware of your arrival time, some hotels say they will cancel bookings if you haven't turned up at midnight on your supposed day of arrival.
Best to ring the hotel directly and explain your situation, and not do an internet booking, as your stay is after the normal check in of 2pm and after midnight, you don't want them (hotel) to cancel your booking because of "non appearance".
There is an Ibis budget near Perth Airport, but TripAdvisor says its a "d*mp".
I have stayed at the Sebel East Perth, very quiet, and the glass sliding door seems very thick, could be double glazed, but not much, in fact more like 99% no traffic noise, good for sleeping!
1am plane touches down, 2am past immi and customs, 2.15am at hotel, sleep till 9am, breakfast downstairs of hotel, there is one or two eateries, ask for later checkout of hotel, take a look around Perth CBD, then back to hotel for freshning up, then off to airport.

Looking through Agoda, the two best suggestions are : Country Comfort and Apartments by Aurum. It’s just a night’s stay, and then will Uber it to town for brunch maybe.

Question: I have redeemed QF award tickets on BA Executive Club. Has anyone ever tried standing by for an earlier flight? Would QF do it or will they ask me to call BA on day of departure? My flight to Melbourne is at 545pm. I’d rather leave earlier obviously...

Ta!

Did you look at the link I placed in post 5 of this thread? It's a Perth Airport service.

If it is an award, there must be the redemption class availability first of all, and then you probably need to call BA Exec Club to change.
However, the Qantas Domestic J lounge is quite a nice place to hang out in. It has a freshly made pizza counter.

Yes, I’ve done this many times on BA award tickets at the QF lounge. As long as there is award availability on the earlier flight.

QF will even move you to an earlier flight for operational reasons (ie. benefits the airline -- highly likely that seats for 5:45pm departure will be in higher demand than earlier). For your convenience there has to be award inventory as stated, and PER-MEL is often full in J (presuming you have J awards). Has been every seat taken in J on all my PER-MEL/SYD flights over the years. Maybe better now with the end of the mining boom.

Guy Betsy Jul 27, 2019 6:41 pm

No, I’m on a Y award. There were no J awards at all that day. There are two of us. There’s a 1.25pm, and 4pm departure before the 545pm one. Should I cancel my special meal in the hopes of switching flights would be better? Currently BA is not showing any award availability for either of those flights. That’s why I’m on the 545pm flight, which is also on a 737-800. I prefer a larger aircraft!

i will also have checked baggage so I Guess I can only attempt to get on the earlier flights at the airport at check in and not at the Qantas lounge.

Most unlikely the general check in staff will help with earlier flight - unless urgent roll forwards due to weather or similar). Lounge staff have been kind to me when I ask (very) nicely and have a plausible reason. But these were with carry on bags only.

number_6 Jul 28, 2019 2:45 am

Lounge staff can also move you forward with checked bags, but it is a special process so having WP status or higher might be required. Having a special meal ordered kills your chances to change flights, so canceling it would be a good idea if you are able to.

Perth qantas lounges open at about 0515... and you cant get through security screening until after 0500 when that opens.
