I also think EK and Dubai have mastered it.....a lift from J & F lounge straight down to aerobridge, no departure gate pain needed. Clever.^

EK BNE also has board-from-lounge. The boarding gate is inside the lounge and leads straight to the aerobridge.

How new is that?
If it was there in 2013, then we missed when boarding our DXB-PER flight:(

Boarding queue worked perfectly in Perth last week...

Only problem was the flybridge wasn't separated - so all the priority boarding did was get me into the flybridge queue quicker!

Coming back from Auckland on Saturdayit was being actively managed with people trying to board in the priority queue getting sent to the back of the normal queue. i was pretty surprised.

My favourite ever was Emirates F back from KL. Two jetbridges, one for F and one for everyone else and I was the only passenger in F. Queue lots of business class passengers getting turned away while they waited for me to turn up at my jetbridge. I suspect that will be the only time I'll ever have that privilege.

Mrs pandaperth had exactly the same experience flying DXB-PER. She loved it:D

Its the A380 terminal. There is however a flaw. The business class lounge is on the top level and first class level in between departure level and business class. Hence full lifts descending from business class skip right past first class level and sometimes F pax have to wait a while for the lift.

Also QF in WLG, BA in SFO, etc.

Ah, OK then. Since we were flying in a B777 I guess we were in a different terminal.

It's only in concourse A where the lounges take up the entire length of the concourse on different levels.

It seemed pretty good to me :)

To be fair, I think the logic is they don't want the unwashed from the Business cabin boarding through the first class cabin which does make sense. There just isn't enough doors to give them a separate jet bridge on a 777.

I've never waited long at all....have i just been lucky? I think it's a very small price to pay considering the genius in the offering.

I think it will remain very hit and miss. I have given up bothering with the premium lane, many people queue jump and the Non premium boarding lane is often shorter

Greetings GPH and welcome to FT (after being here for 3 years!). Yes, the priority line seems a bit of a WOFTAM. Indeed, it seems to me the senior FA on gate duty is busy on the PA and manages the premium line whilst the junior FA handles the "other line" - and gets it moving before the premiums while the boss FA is welcoming people to the flight. The sweet spot place therefore is #1 in the "others" line.
