BA9 Premium Econ to Bus using QF FF points?
Hi all,
I've been booked on a one way London to Bangkok flight BA9. Secretary has booked premium economy. However, via the travel agent I was told that QF points can't be used to upgrade on this flight. Doesn't strike me as true, but stand to be corrected! Many thanks in advance. |
True. You cannot use QF points to upgrade a BA flight (or any an other airline)
QF points can only upgrade QF flights (marketed) on QF aircraft (operated) on eligible fares |
That's true I'm afraid. QF points can be used to buy award seats outright, but not to upgrade.

One day, oneworld will be dragged kicking and screaming onto the same level as Star Alliance (where I believe it can be done), but until that day, the answer is no.
|
It can be done in *A, but usually requires a (prohibitively) expensive Y or B econ fare.

*A - love it! Took me a while to work it out.
I am indeed a Star Alliance member, so knew it was possible there. Surprising one world doesn't allow it. Many thanks again everyone for the help. Saves me sounding like a twat when calling up the BA office asking for a points upgrade. |
BA sometimes offers a cheap cash upgrade at the airport when checking in. If they don't offer it, ask what the price would be.
