LAN Question

LAN Question
Checking my bookings on the QF site it now lists two flights as below. My actual flight is the LAN flight - the second one is a total mystery. Can anyone shed some light?

Booking 1
Tue 28 Dec 10 05:50 Auckland 07:30 Sydney LA801
Booking 2
Tue 28 Dec 10 07:00 Auckland 08:30 Sydney NZ101

Air NZ confirm over the phone this booking exists - and its a "disrupt" booking
Update LAN now confirm flight is cancelled - looking forward to trying Air NZ business product.

The LA flight must have been delayed leaving from SCL for AKL.

Hopefully they have subbed out the usual 763 for a 744 to handle the extra pax? The C product on 763 is rubbish compared to that on NZ's 744's.

Only good thing about this swap is claiming the SC's and airpoints from both airlines. NZ customer service reps will tell you the flight is not eligible for NZ points but I have claimed them successfully online in the last month.

Online is the way to go if the Check In staff do not do it for you.

When LA cancelled the SYD AKL part of their flight to SCL a couple of months ago ( I was on the LA flight the next day), I asked the QF people in the SYD Flounge how they managed the rebookings and they said they had LA passengers spread across every available flight SYD AKL in the morning (QF NZ EK etc). They seemed used ro it.

Yes, seems to be a fairly regular occurence cancelling one leg or another. The NZ checkin staff, (they handle all LAN checkins at AKL were telling me they usually put all LAN ticketed pax onto NZ101 (space permitting), and move all QF ticketed codeshare pax onto QF50 which makes sense I guess.
