I was on QF31 on 27th (which I assume was QF32 on the 28th). The plane was delayed by 2 hours out of sydney/. The captain said it was due to a lightening strike which fried some of the electronics under the first class cabin. This was supposedly fixed before leaving sydney, but the plane was again delayed by an additional hour leaving SIN and arrived into LHR about 1.5 hours late (they managed to make up 1.5 hours).

Probably something following on from this.

I was in W, so had to go through immigration, and was eventually put on BA11 and so was my bag. Biggest disappointment was how much thinner the BA WT+ seats were than PE on QF. Arrived PER 11 hours late. missed the family function I went to PER for :(

theqantassource.com says that QF31 Aug 27 was A380 VH-OQE.
VH-OJG, the aircraft in question, arrived in London as QF9.

The problem was the screen that shows the plane's tilt and attitude, it was showing greater than allowed error, they tried spares and even pulled one out of a BA 747 but some issue with the way it mounted meant they couldn't get it accurate enough - they tried to get a dispensation from Qantas and Boeing to allow them to fly but were turned down so eventually pulled the aircraft out of service.

Sorry that's not very technical but I was dozing through most of the Captain's very informative and regular updates. But that's the gist of what he said.
