Its a little like the people that wear suits on Jetstar :D

I often wear a suit on JetStar - but I've been thinking of matching it with white-rimmed sunglasses so I don't look out of place. Or maybe a Jack Daniels T-shirt.

On QF J I've worn jeans almost every time (international) - I've even worn my "Six Days, .....!" Infidel Apparel T-shirt in J with no drama.

Definitely wrong; that rumour does not fly. QF has even opped me up (it rarely happens, but it occasionally can,) when I was in :gasp: jeans (LAX-SYD). To be fair, I purchased tickets with award miles or moolah, and if I had been an airline employee  things may have been different.

The who is dressed down paid for his ticket himself, those in a suit are on corporate account.

Jeez dude, just wear what ever you want. I have gotte on board in pyjamas once when I was sick, had my coat over my pyjamas. I was so sick.

I wore t-shirts and shorts in F on both SQ & MH from SIN-KUL (it's only a 45 min flight, it was a day-trip to KUL and it was hot outside!)

The only reaction received was an up and down glance by a snooty English businessman next to me on the return flight.

My care-factor was 0. I paid for my seat and was using it how I saw fit.

The normal attire on QF 11 in J is pajamas - those provided by QF in F and J.

Most keep their underwear on under the PJ's. So if you show up in underwear you are likely OK.

Many paid F passengers show up in jeans. J may be a little more formal with business travelers.

Or fly LH F which has a Bogner nightshirt instead of PJs. Pants, who needs pants to fly in F?

I've flown with no baggage several times (as I wasn't expecting to fly, it was a very last minute trip -- had to buy everything upon arrival). Once it was dressed in a tuxedo as I was coming from a black-tie event. The crew thought that was a bit too formal, even for BA F. For planned trips I never wear a suit, but I do have a cashmere traveling jacket which has served me in good stead. QF has lots of F pax wearing suits, they are mostly NRSA (airline employees). Lately DL has been having >50% NRSA J loads LAX-SYD (rather amazing).

I will never forget a flight in economy class with BA from LHR to SYD where we had for the 12 hours to BKK a newly wed couple, she in her white wedding dress, he in white tie and tails, sitting window and and middle seat on the other side of the plane. So I reckon you can overdress, but it may not make for a very comfy flight:)

We do lots of work in regional parts of Australia on routes where Jetstar has replaced Qantas. So there is no choice other than to fly Jetstar.

Which means that I am very much part of the suit wearing crowd in Row 1 of Jetstar.

I feel very sorry for you...

Me too - back in Row 12, there's a lot more overhead luggage space.

I have to agree with you. It is a definite draw back of row 1 and 2 on Jetstar.

But at the risk of sounding like a snooty business person, when you are travelling right up front, all the happy holiday makers are behind you and you can be less aware of them. Sometimes when travelling for work you do not feel like the "excited summer camp" atmosphere of some of your fellow passengers...
