Chasing points from LAN flight
I had a flight from AKL-SYD on LAN on 27th Feb. I waited a week but nothing turned up in my account.I went to claim missing points on the QF site, filled in my details and got the automatic email reply. It is now more than the 14 working days since and still no luck. What is the best thing to do next? email, phone or letter? I still have my BP with QFF number on it.
I dont know if the earthquake caused problems, but I thought they would have come through by now I just checked my activity statement and it had: UNSUCCESSFUL - NAME MISMATCH LA 801 ECONOMY 27FEB10 AUCKLAND/SYDNEY |

My experience is that LAN flights have never posted for me without me following them up. Send a scan of your E-ticket & BP with a covering email to [email protected]
Fax your BP to QF FF number. AKL-SYD never posts on LAN :mad: |
I also have many denied claims for LA flights (YYZ-JFK, IPC-PPT) and usually sending another E-Mail will get it sorted.
|
Its a real lottery. My QF FF number & status have shown on LA BPs, but I had only a 50% success rate (ie 1 out of 2) in having recent flights automatically posted to my QF statement.
|
Flights AKL-SYD have not posted in a year.
SYD-AKL flights post automatically. I have spoken to QFF about this and they are aware of the problem. They have encouraged others to contact them regarding LAN posting issues. As others have said in this thread ad a recent other you need to send an email with the scanned boarding pass to QFF and they will credit the LAN flights. |
Fax or email with scanned BP works. For AKL-SYD specifically I don't even bother waiting for the points to fail to credit because it is so consistently bad (and as Blackcloud says QFF knows it is a problem).
|
The issue appears to be that LAN's system includes the term 'Adult' in its name fields. This is, of course, rejected by the QF system as a 'NAME MISMATCH'.
|
If it is doing that, it is only at AKL. Other LA flights (ex SYD, SCL, EZE, LPB, UIO, LIM, BOG, CCS, MVD, etc) credit no problems at all.
|
And its not just a QFF issue. SYD-AKL posted no problem to Aadvantage but AKL-SYD did not, despite AA number appearing on boarding pass. Requesting credit online didn't work - the reply was something along the line of "The partner airline could not confirm the details provided" Also required faxing in eticket and BP

How are you upgrading LA flights with QFF points?
|
Glad it's not just me who has problems - LA 801 AKL - SYD never credits in my experience, sent more BPs to QFF last thursday and got a call from them with apology for this repeat problem, so they are aware of it, points and SCs still not posted however.
Also had recent recurrent problems with CX flights posting ex HKG and TPE. |

Last time I flew with them it took about two weeks because I waited for the claim to fail (again, a name mismatch and seemed to think I was in Y not J), submitted the missing points request and then had to do the follow up email. |

Apologies for reviving an old thread - just wanted to ask how long points / SCs take to post if following them up in this way immediately after flying LAN?

LA points according to all accounts can take as long as JQ to credit (10-14 days). If they don't arrive within 3-4 days of flying, I just get into the habit of submitting the online claim form and wait for them to credit.
Of course if it's getting close to your annual deadline, a phone call to the QFF service centre can speed things up pretty quickly if you're a little impatient. |

When I have called following sending an e-mail, they usually do it on the spot.
Rather frustrating as I'm on the precipice of a status threshold, and have technically crossed it but am still waiting for the points to properly credit to put me over. |

I did email and follow up with a call a few days later. Unfortunately, they told me I'd have to wait until the LAN claim was rejected before they would credit the points - they had no idea when that may or may not come through.

Regarding the YYZ-JFK/JFK-YYZ flights; given there is only 1 LAN flight per day, what happens to pax if this flight is cancelled or suffers a large delay 4+ hours. When flying to Toronto from JFK I will need to be in Toronto that same day, so I can afford a delayed flight, but not a cancelled flight. Same scenario for my return flight to JFK. Would I have the option of being put on the next available AA flight? Perhaps its in my best interest to give LAN a miss on this occasion and book with the carriers who have more frequent daily flights between the two cities? cheers |

While LA will likely rebook affected passengers the alternative flights may be inconvenient for you (or full). |
Thanks for the replies, good to know there is a good chance of being re-booked onto another flight.

Just to let people know.
My LA801 flight last Saturday has credited my QF account, quite fast. I did put in an online claim on Tuesday but i do not know if this caused the credit. Will report if it rejects on the account. |
Duplicate Claim
I flew AKL/SYD on the 23rd in Business and on the 3rd of August I got and entry saying duplicate claim rejected but I had no other entries. I emailed my boarding pass and e-ticket (luckily it is easy to print at LAN.com) and the points were then credited to my account no problem.
Does seem strange. |
Just another data point: My Lan J flights,Syd-AKl return, in June both automatically posted to my QF account three days after my return....I was quite surprised as I've read all the difficulties others have had. I had already scanned the BPs, ready to send to QF...:o

It appears my online missing points claim rejected with the message of duplicate claim. From this farstar and kpc it appears the LA801 flights now automatically credit within 3 days of the flight and no need to chase up anymore.^ |

After waiting the 14 days, I filed an online missing points claim and now see the "unsuccessful - duplicate claim" message mentioned by Blackcloud. Could this message mean the points are in the process of being credited? The flight was more than a month ago now... |
LAN mismatch
The strange thing I find is that although LAN sc never post without prompting, the booking lways shows up on your Qantas account but CX does not and their booking ref is only 5 digits
|
I noticed the J fare syd akl syd is around double of what I paid 12 months ago. When did this happen? Does anyone know what past trends in LAN fares show? Sure scuttles the MR.

I'm taking my first AKL-SYD I fare in a week or so and this thread seems to have gone from the SC's almost never being auto credited to now being fixed and the SC's appear relatively quick.
Will see what my experience is and report back. |
Points for 2 LA domestic Chile flights appeared within 48 hrs of flight time. Likewise, QF321 SYD-SCL points appeared within 48 hrs.

Check the fare on expedia.com.au or Lan (US site)....you will find that it costs around AUD$750 on the first site, and just under USD$700 on the second (there is a 10% sale on the Lan website at moment).
Busy looking into fares & ?MR to maybe do the DO in NZ mid December. |

Is there a minimum waiting time to request OW flight points ? |
