Sorry to bump an old thread, I guess I thought it best to post in an existing topic rather than start a new thread.
When you put through a transfer request to a family member, how long does it take approximately to show in the other account? Also, will I need to verify my relationship in any way? (I'm looking to transfer to a sibling who has a different surname) |

(I'm looking to transfer to a sibling who has a different surname) Other than entering the relationship in the form, there wasn't any verification from a human per se. |
again bumping old thread.
the transfer requires minimum 5k points. But all my 4 family members are just shy of 5k, thus not meeting requirements. HOWEVER, can I say transfer some of my own points to each members first (i.e. i transfer 5k to each of my wife/kids so they have 9k points) and then from each of their accounts transfer the gross 9k back to my own accounts? I don't think it's against T&C, they are family members, i'm transferring "once" a year (once from my account, once from their account) for large family, that is nearly 18k points (4k x 4) that will otherwise goes to waste. |

Or you-->wife-->kid 1--> kid 2-->you. Cascading the family QF points into kid 2 account before back to you. |
thanks! glad to know this is permitted within terms as i didnt want to exploit this if this wasnt allowed.. this is very generous. at my old cathay pathetic they would charge me 100 odd usd to nominate a transferee and again pay similar fee to transfer block of points...
so whilst some may say burn ratio is poor at QF, for large family i appreciate the fact miles are not wasted this i see better value here |
Yep, the 'daisy' chain ...
Transfer 5K to family member #1, then fm #1 transfers all points to #2, then #2 to #3, and so on before they all get transferred back to you. Should take no more than 30 minutes in total. |

Well you do need to properly have available all needed QFF numbers and their PINS. So was incorporating preparation time ... :) |
