CA : SFO -> PEK - $1,500 USD in J roundtrip; $1000 USD in PY roundtrip

Spotted on flights:

https://www.google.com/flights?lite=...4*2.GBP.113624

Decent availability in 2019. Can't comment on CA hard/soft product or J lounge in PEK although I hear the PL you'll get access to in SFO is pretty nice .

CA's also got a ton of PY fares at the $1,000 USD mark (unsure if that's a decent deal for them and can't comment on the quality of CA PY, if it can even be called that):

Safe Travels,

James

Phenomenal fare! Looks like you need to leave SFO on either the 4th or 5th of Feb, unless I'm doing something wrong. Maybe United will match with more dates.

Good to hear that's a decent fare. I was worried that someone would chime in and say, "No silly, that's the usual fare CA always runs!" With Y fares on CA running at $350 USD at times, anything is possible now.

Be careful if you think about travelling to China during the lunar new year. It's awesome if you want to visit major cities like PEK, PVG and CAN because most of migrants would go back to their hometowns and streets would be much less crowded. But if you want to travel around the country, the transportation would be hectic.

Also available LAX > PEK for the same price. Or you can even save $100 if connecting through SHE on CZ.

Could we get confirmation (ideally from a CA regular) about whether UA J facilities are available to the J flyer on CA. Namely, would you get access to the PL on departure at SFO/LAX and the UC arrivals lounge in SFO supposing your flight encounters no delays?

Right, only seems to be available for SFO departures 2/4 or 2/5. This fare has been available for at least a few days. Limited usefulness from SFO unless you can depart 2/4 or 2/5.

ETA: Higher fare $2047 on Hong Kong Airlines available on more dates.

Appears to have a minimum stay of 7 days. Not sure I wanna hang around PEK for one week in the middle of winter.

for 7 day stay, it is of very limited use unless you know someone to spend time with in PEK/PVG, because all the train tickets are sold out domestically and they do not joke around when it comes to the biggest annual human migration of this world. However, the festive feel can be felt everywhere if you spend some time with a local!

Access to PL (same day same airport Star J).
No access to arrivals lounge (UA metal only).

the LAX>PEK fare has much wider availability than SFO>PEK.

If you're eyeing a short run you can get some dates in May.

But not sure where you would credit flights since CZ is no longer with SkyTeam, right?

Beware - CA's Premium Economy is just an extra legroom seat on a fare class that earns more miles. Nothing substantially different in terms of hard product.

Erm? This is CA (Air China) which is StarAlliance. Can credit to AC, UA, NZ, SQ, any number of others (fare bucket notwithstanding).
