I coppied the individual flights from Matrix to JL multi-city search (redirected to JL Thai website) and it priced 4x higher than the same routing on Matrix. If not JL website where can I book this fare? Google flights shows prices around $2000 for RGN to ORD/JFK etc but when I click the link to buy from JL I get an error. OTAs are pricing around $8000. Using bookwithmatrix I get a link to priceline with $0 price. What am I doing wrong? Is this deal dead?

For an optimal routing you don't copy all segments as they are, but trick the routing you want by e.g. entering RGN-TYO, a little bit depending on the timings you want. A phone booking is also convenient, hence the surcharge.

Yes, it's gone now. Both the X and D class fares have been pulled from the GDS. RGN/MDL-LAX/SFO/NYC/WAS is no longer available for a bargain. Checked also by trying to do a dummy booking.

I was puzzled how people here seemed to tend to route themselves via BKK, because PG doesn't give status miles/TPs to any OW FFP. Okay, sure, maybe people just wanted to try their J class. Routed mine via KUL of course. Will be doing RGN-KUL-NRT-BOS-LAX-JFK-NRT-KUL-RGN later this year.

I still see these in EF and can price out on ITA. If you cannot get it to book on an OTA, I would try a real live TA before giving up.

I see XNN0N4CE in ExpertFlyer. I was reading the sale restrictions and it says this: FOOTNOTE RULE

I tried to ticket this through a live TA. Their response was that this fare is only available if you are purchasing the ticket from Myanmar. Are there any OTAs based in Myanmar?

That's consistent with the fare rules I posted. Tried SkyScanner (changed country to Myanmar) but can't get to display the fare. I still can reproduce it with ITA......

It’s been a decade since i have seen one of those clauses. I recall some of the exCMB bargains of the early 2000s had these. Wasn’t there a quirk where Canada declared this unenforceable and Canada based TAs and OTAs were issuing those exCMB fares?

However, unlike before, the bookWmat tools aren't able to pull any of the fares i've tried on multiple routings on multiple days. So something has definitely changed.

Manually set Myanmar as POS, hence that's the default that it searches for the fare origin as POS, and also narrowed it to JL only. So basically nothing special.

Indeed, I assume that Myanmar ticketing clause was added, but can't remember what the rules were at the time I booked. I didn't print them out from EF. The fares (X and D) were definetly bookable with JAL in Thailand and e.g. Europe. My ticket was issued by the European JAL contact centre in France, as I had to do a phone booking due to issues with my AA segments within the US. Now getting Myanmar as POS is pretty daunting, because that would require finding an IATA affiliated TA with GDS access in Yangon or elsewhere.

IMO this fare is still to be considered as gone.
