Just out of curiousity: Does LA serve a full (hot) meal on these flights?

U!
Are you sure its champagne and not Cava. I thought they served Cava rather than champagne :-(

EDIT: It seems that they do now. I stand completely and utterly corrected.

I stand corrected. Perhaps this has improved then :-)

Nope. Remember: it's a FRA-SCL (and vice versa) flight also, which means the proper meal is served on the longer leg. SOP on routes like this.

Some culinary from a few years back on the 787-9...

First from a FRA-MAD:

And a flight MAD-FRA:

I liked to run the routemap on the screen of the aisle seat. The dual screen configuration would be even more fun when continuing from MAD.

Had to fly MAD-FRA oneway last year. The timing was perfect, especially as the other option was FR and at short notice not much cheaper than LA in J !!
Went through non-Schengen passport control at both ends and the IB lounge was empty at that time of day.
Had a comfortable row to myself on the plane and took advantage of the excellent Chilean wine, rather than champagne.

This works perfectly for me with the current SQ thread about JFK-FRA-SIN thread.

Pretty expensive as a pure mileage run. LA no longer has a COS for J so you only earn 1764 EQM on the return or 16.7 cpm EQM. Ouch!

Even as a 75K, RDM is still 5.15 cpm about 2.5X what you can buy them for.

If you have a need to to get between the countries it is a reasonable price, just not remotely a mileage run.

The only real value for crediting these fares is BA as you get 80 TPs on a RT. But since the earlier post mentioned SQ, AS was the only place to credit both fares.
