TAP : CPH/OSL to BOS/MIA/JFK $1169 (updated 28 Jun 2017)

- books into J, which earns 200% on most Star Alliance programs

- around 5 CPM when credited at 200%

- comes up on most OTAs

https://www.kayak.com/flights/OSL-BO...02-15/business

Likely works on more TAP routes (though no West Coast for them).

Not necessarily. Random date - October 19, OSL-LIS-JFK with 1h10min connection in LIS for $408.

Thanks OP! Hopefully these won't get cancelled. Planning to take IcelandAir with a stopover in KEF en route to OSL, then fly back on this fare.

GuyverII Apr 6, 2017 12:32 am

Good fare, but looks like angled seats, not flat. Last two trips with TAP in J were mediocre seats and service IMHO.

stephem Apr 6, 2017 1:13 am

I cannot find the fare in EF to asess exact rules but from what i have seen this is only for travel after sept 1. Any ody else book earlier?

more4less Apr 6, 2017 1:26 am

The lowest I find for next February is 1100.
Anybody has managed to book at 770 for 2018?
It would be handy to help re-qualifying for *G.
Thanks!

stephem Apr 6, 2017 2:11 am

VALID FOR TRAVEL COMMENCING ON/AFTER 01SEP17.

A $233 base fare though and TP is notorious for being dumpable...

There is also a $547 base fare which explains the two different pricings people are quoting here.

I believe that TAP has lie flat on two aircraft (CS-TOT & U) which came from Azul, and are usually used on the Lisbon to JFK and Boston routes.

I know it's not premium fare but economy had for £233 CPH-BOS return.

bison1847 Apr 6, 2017 5:32 am

I got the 770 in feb OSL to BOS booked 4 tix

Yes! Booked to Boston for Paddy's Day 2018.

Still available from 1 Sep 2017 right through to end of service on TAP's own website.

Sweet! Maybe we'll get lucky!

That economy fare is stellar, this biz fare is just OK, ymmv.

My miles certainly vary!

Cheaper TATL economy fares than that pop up far, far more frequently than do cheaper business fares.

Besides, that economy fare only comes with an 8kg hand luggage allowance; to check a bag paid in advance would cost an extra $280 for the return ($340 if paid at the airport) - which almost (or, more than, if paid at the airport) doubles the "price" of that ticket.

And certainly, from a mileage runner/status runner perspective, economy fares are unattractive at any price when "deals" exist in business class. If you're going to check a bag, wouldn't you pay an extra $130 to get not just one 23kg bag, but 2*32kg bags, as well as lounge access, and 150% or 200% miles [versus 10% or 0%, depending on programme, in economy]?

Seems a total no-brainer to me!

I booked this for December, and currently when choosing seats it shows the old J seating arrangement. Any chance this might change nearer to the flight?

Of course there's a chance. But knowing what route you are discussing would be helpful.

When I Travel The World Apr 6, 2017 2:30 pm

I just booked a one way for fun CPH-LIS-MIA for 470 one way in business class.
Just a 2 hour layover in Lisbon which is nice.

Always nice to review another airline in business class.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. Was referring to the LIS-BOS / BOS-LIS legs on TP217 and TP218.

I can only find 624...where did you find this?

diburning Apr 6, 2017 3:01 pm

This isn't reversible, is it? I can't seem to find the same fare the other way around.

International fares are almost NEVER reversible...:(

Just the one way in biz ($407) is about 4.9k BIS miles, which credits 9.7k miles with A3 (200%), plus 4 short A3 flights, that's your annual renewal for A3 Gold/*A Gold.

You can pretty much renew *A Gold for $500-600 total.

Since this has been around for 2 days now, not every date/city combination is available. Flights in certain fare classes sell out. Sub-$500 fares remain OSL-NYC or BOS for most of September through February.

CPH appears to be mostly sold out at the lowest rates now, though you can do OSL-CPH-LIS-NYC

This is cool plan, stopover in KEF, I am exploring it, too.

BTW, you can do a free stopover in LIS at this fare, so you can see LIS too.

I have been following it since the beginning and never saw MIA this low. Other destinations yes. But the post suggest MIA.

nice video of retrofitted TAP 330

If we are lucky enough to get it.

Potreroflyr Apr 7, 2017 1:48 pm

So there are the two former-Azul aircraft and just ONE refurbed A330 with the new biz class?

timid_trnchcoat Apr 7, 2017 1:55 pm

Thanks OP. Couldn't resist and bought a one way OSL- BOS last night

Yup. 6 other ac are still due to be retrofitted at Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg.

The best I have found for February is around 700€ ex-Oslo which is a fantastic deal, but would mean one night in Oslo and one night in Lisbon, difficult to justify it...

And in Oslo the airport is an hour away from the city (crazy, I don't know what's wrong with these people), so you better stay at the airport.

of course the time of your flight matters. For many people, the OSL-LIS flight is at 6pm, which allows plenty of time to connect from somewhere else that day, or to stay in the city.

It's 22 miles outside the city, not particularly far in the realm of world cities, and has an express train that takes 20 minutes.

not sure which "people" you are calling crazy..
