Hot off PV!!!!

From someone who claims to be a screener in AK:

TSA catches terrorists all the time, they just don't go to jail. They are denied access to their flight and sent away from the airport after it has been determined they don't have anything dangerous on them. Terrorists are actually pretty smart. What they do is take all the parts of an IED through security except the explosives. We notice that they are hiding these items and realize why they are doing it. They test our checkpoints but we are not allowed to hold them or arrest them because they aren't doing anything illegal.
I am speechless that someone actually believes this!

Spiff May 4, 2009 8:52 am

Liar! Liar!

Someone's been into the 'special' Kool-Aid. Blogdad Bob is going to be pretty busy with this one.

Making up an extra large bucket of popcorn. This should be interesting.

Hope your making enough to share!:D

We can't find a needle in a haystack, so lets look for straw, instead.

That's the beauty of an IED, it uses commonly available materials...:p

I'm sure that just about anything in a carry-on bag (that, too) could be used to make an improvised explosive device (not counting the explosive) so now everything gets counted as suspect...

I'm waiting for the announcement that the BDOs have been replaced with chicken entrails readers because the chicken entrails readers have a higher discovery rate.

I think PETA would have a fit about that.

And there is a use for the rest of the carcass.

There is a post on EOS about termination of the BDO program in the near future, by someone who claims insider information.
So, Francine, come out of the closet...:D:D

Mr. Bimler could have used a few more like you, W. R.

"we are not allowed to hold them or arrest them because they aren't doing anything illegal."

I'm shocked, shocked to find that TSO's with fake tin badges do not have the power to arrest law abiding citizens.

OP missed his next comment: "Also TSA would love to screen cargo."

And TSOWilliamReed is on the government payroll protecting the Homeland, the only thing between OBL and me. :td: I won't be sleeping soundly tonight. . .

Actually, OP didn't miss the comment about cargo, but rather thought that the initial quote was more than enough to try to wrap one's mind around for one morning.

My thought was that TSOReed might be spending his time between flights watching MacGyver reruns...

Ok, but once one's mind is spinning rapidly out of control trying to comprehend the insanity that is the TSA, a few hundred revolutions more don't seem to matter much. :D

Steph3n May 4, 2009 3:11 pm

I see the govt has officially given up on ever catching Bin Laden and just making him laugh himself to death now. All the while the citizens get to cry themselves to sleep due to the continual erosion of rights.

Had a delightful experience with the TSA at MSP the other day telling me I have "too much liquid" as I had some RX's from the dentist.

I had a chat with the Supervisor; Supervisor overruled the TSO who was also doing a bag check, then the TSO takes out her anger on me (things like the lets swab and ETD everything game). Also had to explain metric conversions to said screener re liquids.

Bin Laden must be laughing himself to death at the crap law abiding citizens must deal with on a regular basis to fly, let alone the erosion of rights with things like SecureFlight, SPO, watch lists, nude-o-scopes, and so on.

I'm thinking "24". ;) Jack catches more terrorist in a day than TSA have identified in 7 years.

Hot off the press indeed. They must be receiving a barrage of negative but legal comments there, as neither the comments nor the delete-o-meter are advancing. They need more friendly posts so they can bury real comments on the bottom. I suspect people are rather annoyed with the TSO right now.

Or there's unhappiness at blog central and discontent within the blog team.

I have discovered that when there is a large lag in posting comments it means Blogger Bob has taken a day off.

If he's been in 15+, it's possible.

He hasn't been there that long- according to his blog bio he was a touring musician before he joined TSA. One post did just go up.

Thought I remembered him saying he was in the military too - that counts as federal service.

Probably at least up to 6 hours of leave per pay.

Close ... he just reported that he's in a conference.

Why does he have a blog team if he is the only one to ever approve comments?

I think the Blog team can approve most of the posts but there are certain malcontents (you know who you are) whose posts require special approval from Blogger Bob.

I feel so special.:D

And what would you guess is the conference subject?

1) Terrorists: Where did they go?
2) Remedial Signage
3) Getting the most from the MMW
4) How to Improve our Image
5) BDO Progress Report

Maybe Blogger Bob doesn't trust his fellow TSO's to approve comments.

He is actually right. You would be surprised to hear how many incidents escape the national media. TSO's are briefed on these incidents daily.
It would be pretty low for the TSA to fabricate the incidents they brief.

I didnt see this on flyertalk.

http://www.wsmv.com/news/15132397/detail.html

I remember once one of those roaming TSA teams tailed some guy through a bunch of terminals. He was timing himself and counting his footsteps. When they got closer to him they saw several swastika tattoos. The TSOs called up LEOs who interviewed then searched him. They didnt find anything dangerous so they just let him go. What if one day he comes back with something dangerous?

Previously discussed. Search is a wonderful tool.

I believe these incidents lack credibility. Somewhat like the incident at HOU where the TSA cost a man his job due to their perceived issues with his shoes.

People with "something dangerous" can be found right now in the terminals at Sky Harbor Airport (PHX). It is not illegal nor prohibited to carry a firearm inside the public areas of the three terminals.

Should we stop each and every one of them because they might do something?

Good luck with that.

Guess what. There have been people you cleared through your little Kabuki Theater setup that have had Swastika Tattoos or other tattoos.

Doesn't mean a damn thing.

Probably nothing. Based on your former employer's Red Team testing, I doubt you would have caught anything.

As reprehensible as the loony Right's use of the Swastika is, it alone is not probable cause for harassment.

What if anyone who visits the airport today blows a gasket and comes back tomorrow with something dangerous?

The First Amendment protects freedom of expression, even at airports.
