MCO rant
 

Seems that if any airport could benefit from separate family lanes it is Orlando. But no, I get past the ID check and start looking for the black lane. Instead I am ordered into a random line. Told "get over there". Wasn't just me. They were sending random passengers to random lines, based on their own mysterious algorithm. Took 20 minutes to get through behind several people who clearly hadn't flown since last Xmas, or maybe never before.

That can the TSA be thinking!

Are you sure this was a screener? I had a less than friendly exchange with an airport contractor who was directing people to lines - she wanted me to go hither, I wanted to go yonder, and after her constant cackling about it, I just waved her off and went to the line I wanted.

If they're not screeners, you can try the nice way first (I prefer this lane, thanks), and if that fails, wave them off and go where you want.

Unfortunately the people who direct passengers to the screening lines at MCO are contractors (I presume to the airlines), and not TSA personnel. I had a conversation with a couple of TSA people about them last week and even they are frustrated with them.

The bottom line is just ignore them. They have no authority and most of them are just ego trippers. Sadly they give our airport a bad name.

That's what I do. I say "OK" and then go where I want.

The MCO peons peeving those in this thread, are airport services contract personnel. Since they tend to hang around and assist the CLEAR pax through the lines, I long thought they were Clear contractors, but I may be wrong about this.
They do natter on and on about which line you should be in, but in IME you you can ignore them without any penalty other than the increased buzzing as they are faced with the reality of how pointless their non-function is.
Their core responsibility seems to be ensuring that no non-employees get in the employee security line, even if that line is completely empty.
I don't know why MCO can't get its act together like TPA and have these people perform a dual ID check.
Recheck ID's before getting on the monorail. Then the airport is clearly twice as safe. :rolleyes:
