The night's still young. ;)

I'd also like to add:

Comrade: Title that is "affectionately" used instead of Mr./Mrs./Ms. for certain DHS officals. Examples: Comrade Chertoff, Comrade Hawley. Herr/Frau/Fraulein are acceptable alternatives. :D

I did not see FFDO - Federal Flight Deck Officer. An armed Pilot or First Officer.

Continued thanks, folks. All the recent additions above have been added to the Master Post, #3.

ADASP = Aviation Direct Access Screening Program = TSOs who walk around the airport grounds performing screening of airline and airport employees, the cabins of airplanes (without climbing on TAT probes) and at some airports also control entrance gates.

SPOT = Screening of Passengers by Observation Technique = What the BDOs do. Also another nickname for BDOs as in "SPOT Team."

TSA love note = Notice of Baggage Inspection. A leaflet/placard left in a passenger's checked baggage indicating the bag was opened up by the TSA in the bag room because it looked weird... and that might have had to cut your locks.

Travel Sentry lock = TSA certified lock that comes with various standarized locks allowing the TSA to open them with a the correctly numbered key. Some are key-only others are key and combonation, some come with a little indicator telling your bag was opened in search/panty raid and that you'll find a notice of inspection/love note inside.

DFS = Dual Function Screener = A TSO who works both in the passenger checkpoint and checked baggage room.

LoganTSO, thanks for the additions! I'll add them to the Glossary and also add your handle in the "credits".

A noun, a verb, and 9/11

OBL = Osama Bin Laden = and excuse for Bush/Cheney/DHS to trample any right listed in the US Constitution, in public or in secret, often in a sentence containing a variation of "well, you know, it's a different world we live in, post 9/11".
9/11 = see OBL, same definition.
Update: OMG I can't make this stuff up as fast as the Washington pros. Above definitions verified by MSNBC News September 2: Bush to invoke 9/11 as reason to elect McCain in hs talk to Republican National Convention tonight.

For the Master Terror List, are all the "variations" to be listed? If so, it's going to be a LOOOONG List. ;) For example:

TSA = DHS department whose everyday fixations lead some to believe the initials stand for Taking Scissors Away

TSA = DHS department whose everyday fixations lead some to believe the initials stand for Taking Solutions Away

We might run out of room if we listed every definition of TSA. :)

FOUO: For official use only. Another variety of unclassified but also not for public information. (This one was already mentioned, but I didn't see it added.)

SBU: Sensitive but Unclassified. A catch-all TLA for all of the large variety of information that is not for public release, but is also not classified. Includes SSI, PII, FOUO, LES, and probably some others I can't think of at the moment.

PII: Personally Identifiable Information, aka privacy information, This is information that can be used to identify a specific person from the general population, and also requires special government safeguards and protections. Some FTers seem to think that TSA has no knowledge of this category of information.

BOLO: Be On the LookOut. Information about an individual who is of interest to law enforcement. May refer to things other than individuals, but cars are unlikely visitors to a security checkpoint.

Thanks, spotnik! We'll add them and add you to the list of contributors.

Don't forget Terrorist Support Agency

Don't forget
FUD = Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt -- the idea that creating fear and uncertainty will cause the sheeple do to whatever you want.

TSA = Thousands Standing Around

TravelSentry lock = merely decorative baggage accessory. Most of the ramp rats and TSA folk have keys. Even if they don't, they can be picked in about 3 seconds

And there's always
The War Against Terrorism. :D

Flaflyer Sep 3, 2008 11:38 am

Enjoy

Quite. This was originally a definition of acronyms exercise, and is now a Master Terror Glossery. Yet no one dares attempt to define War on Terror. :D Perhaps it can't be done?

More important "making us free from tewwowists" concepts no one has attempted yet: ;)

War on Water/War on Liquids/Water Ban
Tewwowist
Terrywrist
Randomness/designed inconsistency/deliberate inconsistency/keep em guessing what the rules are policy
Al Kidda
Sheeple
Ma and Pa Kettle/The Kettles
Goalie's Weekly Body Count List: "This Week in TSA History"
Blogdad Bob/TSA Evolution of Propaganda Blog site
TSA Puppy Story
Mike Chertoff/Skeletor (remember TOS-NO cursing)
Kip Hawley/Kip/The Kipster (remember TOS-NO cursing-someone please get Spiff to define this one: I sense a Classic for All Time coming :D)
