I sure hope you are right, but the 100ml liquid and the baggie make me doubt it.

Good. I hope the EU sticks to their guns on this one. Maybe if enough countries stop kowtowing to this nonsense it will shrivel up and die.

Formal EU authorization or not, the countries are at least backchannel surrender monkeys, data-wise and otherwise.

That is, I have serious doubts that the EU will necessarily "stick to their guns" on much of anything in the "security" area. Bank and credit card data? They just hand it over or get firms with a nexus in the US to do it. Immigration data? Ooops, convenient open door for the NSA. Passports? Revise their passports to satisfy "international" "security needs", even if it involves invalidating the overwhelming majority of unexpired passports of nationals before the expiration date.

As far as i have heard the new data transfer regarding passangers travelling to the USA is that they wont transfer the date to the USA but the USA can ask for the data, but no longer all data will be automaticcaly transferd to the USA just on request, but i thought this is just for the moment because there are still objection by some members states.Regarding the transfer of banking information the commision has this in investagation because the transfer of this data is against EU law and banks that worked along with this could face hefty fines. And in the EU there could never be a non fly list based on nothing that would be aganst the law, the only thing i could see would be that someone that is convicted by a JUDGE for lets say membership of a terrorist organisation maybe would face restrictions in travelling. But not a random list of people some of them on there without any reason.
