Official "funniest banned items" thread

So far we have reports of:
What else?

And no, banning water isn't funny. It's just sad.

Someone had ice banned. He did argue it wasn't a liquid and while that technically that is true, the TSA were not amused.

Spiff Aug 14, 2006 12:28 pm

I wish this were a laughing matter. :(

Don't forget solid crystal deodorant stones.

And didn't someone mention that a screener tried to confiscate gummy bears until the supervisor overruled him? Of course, I think the TSA did add gummy candies to the list on their site over the weekend. :td:

TSA stupidity aside, anyone who uses a crystal as underarm deordorant, well, I may even ask for a secondary on something that strange. I'm as liberal as the next guy but rubbing a rock on your armpit is very disturbing.

Rollaboards with gel wheels?

Orthotic insoles that contain gel

brosnan6 Aug 14, 2006 12:47 pm

Maybe I am the only one that finds this funny...but gel inserts for shoes (Dr. Scholls, etc...)? Funny, yet very inconvenient for those who use them cause IIRC, don't those things cost a decent amount to replace?
Also...

They are not on the official list just yet
"All beverages, Camelbaks, similar backpacks and water bottles must be empty,Gel based sports supplements, Jellos, Puddings, Yogurts or gel like substances" (TSA List

Though its only a matter of time until overzealous screeners unofficially add them to the list or manipulate the definition of gel like substances. I like my gummie-o's when I travel...lets hope I can keep them!

Hey, it works, doesn't cause issues for sensitive skin, and lasts around a year for a block.
