RDU Shoe Harassment

Just went through security at RDU Terminal A with the same thin-soled, nonmetallic slip-on shoes I've worn through numerous other airports.

The screener at the WTMD recommended I remove my shoes. I told her they are non-profile with no metal and thin soles and after I walked through the detector she sent me over to the secondary screening pen---wasting about 10 minutes of my time.

Both the "male assist" who wanded me and the supervisor on duty agreed that my shoes are approved as walk-throughs and do not require any additional screening. Good news is, while I was in secondary, a group of supervisors gave a lecture about proper shoe policy to the screener who sent me to be harassed; apparently this was her first week on the job and she thought ALL shoes had to be removed.

FSD Ron Juhl and the team at RDU: PLEASE do a better job of training your screeners to spot non-profile shoes!

Wow way to cut her some slack....I bet when you retun she will know. @:-)
Do you plan on any OAK trips in the next few months...I might be new on the job there....too! ;)

At least by reading FT you're more knowledgable about TSA policy than it seemed this young lady was. :)

Slack?????????????

You have got to be joking.

With amount of "training" that is supposedly given and the amount that she is getting paid, there should be no slack at all. If she cannot perform the job properly, then fire her.

You have got to be the one kidding  ....so every single person MUST first time out of the gate perform to excellence in your book?....

And I am sure in a week you would memorize all shoes that are travel approved ..and discern all passengers who claim to be wearing those particular type of shoes....and are not...

Wow! I feel sorry for your kids, dog , wife, or anyone else who has to perform anything for you...... ;) How about a little human compassion…. CameraGuy

I think the original poster had a sense of understanding.....I don't want to presume to speak for him....but the said what he had to say to her bosses....

Oh and check that pay scale again...new employees are not exactly giving Donald Trump a run for his money on TSA salary....

No need to memorize all shoes that are travel approved. You only need to memorize one thing: sole thickness. The rest is up to the WTMD, if it doesn't beep, and the soles are less than [SSI Information removed] inches, then let the person through. It's as simple as that. See, some free advise. :D

You know with all this smart advice....I am going to be Supervisor of OAK TSA in no time....~LOL~ :)

If you turn OAK into a non-Shoe Carnival airport from a Shoe Carnival airport, you'd be a hero.

Otherwise... not so good. Teaching is a better choice.

Nah, memorize this instead:

There is NOTHING that can be hidden in shoes that cannot be hidden elsewhere on/in a passenger.

David Stone, you and the "Shoe Bomber" are welcome to spend a lot of time doing the same thing to each other, you filthy little un-American piece of human garbage. I love the way you hide from the passengers and never take a commercial flight, you candy-assed coward.

how much can be worn around the "torso" vs. how much can be "worn" in/around your body?

depends on how deep we want to get into this theory.

eh, pun not intended...

Spiff Jan 23, 2005 9:22 pm

Actually, the question is:

How much can be put in your shoes, vs how much can be put in your underwear or up your butt?

The Strap-On Sallies in Russia bribed their way on board, but that disgusting Shoe Pervert and Cheap Feels Punk Stone would rather play Charades than effect decent security.
