This suggests some flexibility in how the TSA interprets it. I still have to think over what I want to do.

Only the passenger should retain the key or combination to the lock unless TSA personnel request the key to open the firearm container to ensure compliance with TSA regulations. You may use any brand or type of lock to secure your firearm case, including TSA-recognized locks.

Just because the TSA likes it doesn't make it legal. There's no wiggle room in 14 CFR 1540.111(c)(iv).

Go through Deviant Ollam's YT channel. He's even caught the TSA not re-locking TSA locks after a search.
