Going through security with bag, without ticket
We are traveling Southwest Airlines from Houston to San Jose to see my sister in a couple weeks with a layover in Dallas. We are bringing our 1 year old daughter with us and dropping her off in Dallas with my parents. We did this several months ago and Southwest gave my mom a gate pass to go behind security to pick up our daughter.
This time she wants to give us a bag to bring to San Jose for my sister. Assuming Southwest gives her a gate pass, can she use it to bring the bag back?

TSA could care less about baggage allowances. All TSA cares is that your mother has a gate pass and the bag doesn't contain any contraband (items not permitted through the checkpoint).
