Changing Terminals?

I am a somewhat new flier, really only flying between Newark, Orlando, and Tampa. I have never had to change terminals before.

I have a trip coming up to Maui. I leave Newark to go to Los Angles where I arrive in Terminal 6 with Continental. I then pick up a flight with United in Terminal 7. I was wondering if I have to go through security again, and if I have to get my bags.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, kinda new here.

Assuming the flights are on a single reservation, you should be able to check your bags through from Newark all the way to Maui.

Airports vary, but in this case, you will need to re-clear security at LAX T7.

Eh? Not all of the terminals at LAX are connected air-side but T6 and T7 are.

Welcome to flyertalk.

Terminals six and seven are connected airside (after security) at LA, so you do not have to clear security again.

If your flights are on the same PNR, when you check in they will tag them through to Maui and transfer your bags for you at LA. If they are not, and you show them your United ticket, they will probably tag them through for you if you ask.

I stand corrected. (I was going by the first post in the scanner sticky thread, which states "LAX-No Airside Transfers Between Terminals").

I was limiting the details to those relevant to the OP's question. Besides, T8 is just for those tiny wanna-be planes. Aren't they cute?
