At least they recognized the bomb. You can't have everything, ok? Stop pressuring them!
The police quickly evacuated the ticketing area and mall area, and with their guns drawn, confronted the man, Hogan said. Within seconds, TSA officials notified police that the bomb was fake and the incident was merely a drill to test the response of screeners and the communication system |

TSA conducts bomb drill - doesn't tell cops
TSA conduct bomb drill in Minnesota airport, but don't tell police (NaturalNews) With their guns draw and packing live ammo, police officers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport surrounded a man smuggling a bomb in a carry-on bag. Although details are sketchy because the TSA is trying to downplay this incident, the cops were no doubt yelling at the man to hit the floor and surrender. Had this man acted in any sort of threatening-looking way, the cops would have certainly opened fire on him. This all took place at a TSA security checkpoint at the airport. There's only one problem with it: The whole thing was a TSA security drill -- but nobody informed the cops!(Star Tribune) ... Through their completely idiotic actions, they put the lives of both police officers and members of the public in great danger. The TSA actually engineered a situation that could have very easily resulted in a loss of life. Had the "bomber" made a sudden move, he could have easily been shot by a cop who would then, no doubt, be investigated for the killing and probably stripped of his badge and retirement merely for doing his job. |

Wow. EPIC FAIL.
When you have a whole bunch of REAL LEOs drawing firearms, in a tense situation with fears of a terrorist attack, people can get HURT! And that's not even considering all the innocent travelers whose lives were impacted - terrorized by the scary LEO response and all the drawn weapons, schedules messed up, flights missed... The ineptitude is on a scale that is mind-boggling. Especially when you consider that this befuddled group of people are supposed to be keeping us safe from REAL terrorists. They can't even keep us safe from THEMSELVES! |

Just sayin'. How's everyone else doing, living in places that didn't get ravaged by tornados? :D |
While chatting up two different screeners at two different stations, they both volunteered that the local law enforcement Officers aren't particularly keen on TSA for various reasons, uniforms and badges among them.
Yeah, this isn't going to help. |
I guess I'm the only one who sees this as a success. The device was detected, the officers on the floor responded immediately, the LEOs reacted immediately, and the Red Team stopped it immediately before it escalated.
Could the Red Team have done a better job? Of course. Is this article blowing things way out of proportion? Of course. |

Just sayin'. How's everyone else doing, living in places that didn't get ravaged by tornados? :D We had our share of tornadoes in back-to-back springs a few years ago. The countryside will recover and begin to look normal again in a few years. For the people that experienced it, a Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Warning on the TV or radio will become temporary life-focusing events. One never forgets. |

TSA used man of 'Middle Eastern descent' with fake bomb to test MSP security
Yeah, because all terrorists look like that:rolleyes:
"Well, let's cover all the stereotypical bases," Ibrahim Hooper, national spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said Monday. "It's not surprising in the least that [federal authorities] would resort to anti-Muslim stereotypes." |
There's a lot to complain about when it comes to the TSA, but it's absolutely ridiculous to complain about the TSA employing ethnic minorities amongst many others in this function.
What CAIR should be complaining about instead is the TSA's lack of accountability and incompetence. Even complaining about the response to the person employed by the TSA may have more merit than the complaint as expressed by Hooper above. |
