Plane returned to gate--4 pax removed

Details here.

Out of an abundance of caution, no doubt.

Authorities did not say what the man found suspicious.

two are of Middle-Eastern descent.

It is unknown at this time why the people were deemed "suspicious."
Gee, there needs to be another reason, two of them were Middle Eastern, return to the gate.

from http://www.9news.com/news/article/19...-United-flight

The Denver Post says they emptied and swept the plane and then let everybody back on. That's why you can't carry on baseball bats, I would want to smash the idiot who caused all this.

And according to the Denver News, the issue was:

It's believed that a couple of the passengers were taking photographs, or something like that, while the plane was taxiing, and that raised suspicion, said DIA spokesman Jeff Green.

He said it appeared to be a simple misunderstanding.

I can just see it now, a middle eastern person taking a picture, somebody alert the captain.

Sadly it's this kind of paranoia that feeds the TSA beast.

And then they get to fly into LAX on top of it rather than SNA. They hit the curfew.

Well, at least Little Johnny PeePants was pulled off the flight and held just as long as the PAX he was 'spicious of. Maybe next time he'll keep his yap shut. :D

Exactly my thought.

Should have seated this guy next to the "suspects" when reboarding.

Pax Removed From Flight For Taking Photos During Taxi

I've been taking photos of commericial aviation for 13 years and I knew this was going to happen to somebody soon. Two passengers and the person who reported them were removed from UA593 operating DEN-SNA by an Airbus 319 Thursday evening: http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news...84/detail.html

Fair use exert:

A United plane taxiing on the runway at Denver International Airport returned to its gate Thursday night after a passenger notified a flight attendant of three suspicious passengers on board.

It's believed that a couple of the passengers were taking photographs, or something like that, while the plane was taxiing, and that raised suspicion, said DIA spokesman Jeff Green.

This kind of crap is why my hobbies have been moving away from commercial aviation the past few years. I was almost kicked off a Continental Express CRJ flight in 2008 (operated by Chautauqua Airlines) for asking if I could visit the flight deck while parked at the gate and the flight attendent had a total over-the-top reaction to my request. Also in 2008, I had a UA flight attendent demand I shut down my laptop computer inflight because I had this photo (taken by me) set as the wallpaper: http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5938235

Really? Wow. That's incredible. So what happened? Did you shut it down or keep working.

Paranoia reigns!

Did you comply ? What reason did the FA give for the 'demand'.

I can't see how taking pictures is suspicious, but they're not supposed to be using electronic devices during taxi for sure.

I was flying out of LAX a few months ago. I have my usual window seat. Taking the long taxi to the runway, we passed by an A380, the first one I had seen in person. Of course I grabbed my camera to get a few pics! Glad someone didn't complain...

cordelli Apr 22, 2011 3:02 pm

There's a link in the other thread about it in this forum that indicated they were mid eastern. It's probably a good bet that was a major part of the reason, not that they were taking pictures.

Taking pictures is fine, but a mideastern person taking pictures requires the plane to be empied and swept.

I'm on a flight right now. I'm going to take some pics as we taxi to the gate, so keep an eye on CNN. :p

Not fair - you've reached your destination. You gotta do it while waiting for take off.
