TSA chief: Screening may evolve
Heeding a sudden furor, John S. Pistole, administrator of the Transportation Security Administration, said in a Sunday afternoon statement to POLITICO that airport-screening procedures “will be adapted as conditions warrant,” in an effort to make them “as minimally invasive as possible, while still providing the security that the American people want and deserve.”
TSA's new flexibility comes as the government gears up for a flood of travel over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Administration officials say any changes are more likely to be in the implementation of the security procedures than in the security measures themselves. http://www.politico.com/news/stories...#ixzz15wsgPl1Z |
I got 50 cents that says the TSA will shut the NoS off for the holiday weekend, then quietly turn them back on when they think the furor has died down.

Not good enough. Pistole and Napolitano must resign.

I think the TSA is looking forward to Wednesday. They're going to have two million people transit checkpoints. By the time you narrow it down to the people subjected to the option, how many people do you think will know about the Opt-Out thing. Blogger Bob will have an absolute field day touting that the vast majority of travelers did not opt-out. Don't get me wrong, I hope it works, but I am not as hopeful opt-out day will be as big of a deal as many think. |
This might be the smartest thing this guy has said in the last 3 weeks. Finally he has come to his senses to realize that the DHS/TSA had made a major public relations blunder when they started these new "screenings".

It's a start. I mean, at least we're going somewhere.

Somebody likely called him after CNN and told him to tone it down and reminded him of the stick-figure thing that the TSA is supposedly working on, and that will be the basis of the compromise.
I'm Whoopi Goldberg and I don't mind a squeeze. Why should you? |
