Hi,
Just wondering for those that have flown with KM, what's the Business upgrade starting bid (and winning) value like? Was thinking if not too expensive might purchase their cheapest Y fare and try for a reasonable bid to J. (Planning to credit the flights to M&M program)

They have quite a good fare from AMS-MLA in June which I am thinking of booking but no experience with them. I assume service in Economy is LCC like?
Any other experience with KM would be welcome.

Cheers!

Don't have any experience with KM, but I am curious to fly them. They tend to have very good prices to MLA from LHR (and the rest of Europe).

Here's some videos from KM service (pre-COVID):

Economy:

Here's their website with the on-board service and economy buy-on-board, which seems very limited: https://www.airmalta.com/information...light-catering

Any miles redemption option?

Any way to redeem on Air Malta? All the info I've found seems to be outdated. Can't find any current partner for redemption nor any way to transfer points to their program.

I contacted Air Malta in July about their Flypass loyalty scheme. I wanted to retrospectively credit some Air Malta flights I took in March and I have some more booked for December. I want to make sure they are recorded, in the hope that my loyalty is carried over to whatever new national carrier and loyalty scheme replaces Air Malta at the end of the year. I couldn’t find any way to join/log in from the Air Malta website.

I got the following reply:
Currently, we are undergoing system maintenance, so Flypass members can't see how many points they have online or have online access to their Flypass in general. Kindly note that our registration for the program is on hold for the moment. Therefore, we kindly ask you to make a request in two weeks’ time and we hope we will be able to assist.”

You have reminded me that it’s time to chase them again.

Miles & More can redeem on Air Malta, as well as their own programme.

I wouldn’t bet that your loyalty will be carried over to the new national carrier. I always credit my flights to Miles & More, but my partner credits flights to KPass. We are redeeming the points asap at the moment to use them all because we have zero confidence they’ll be worth anything after the transition. I’d hold tight. FWIW the KPass team can’t tell us how many points we have left either, but they do just book us flights when we ask..!

Impressions from recent Air Malta flight

Had one flight on Air Malta recently. Overall, it was fine. Impressions:
  • Couldn't figure out a good way to use points, since I have nothing banked at M&M, so I used Chase UR points to buy a "cash" ticket in business class
  • When I checked in, it offered 4 or 5 programs to credit to... M&M was one and then 4 other European programs? (None of them worked for me)
  • IT systems pretty bad. Could not select seats, error messages. Contacted their support. They claimed to reserve seats for me. Not reflected anywhere on the reservation. Ended up with completely different seats at check-in. Online check-in did end up working ok, though no way to add pass to mobile wallet, could only try to keep QR code on screen from email.
  • Full meal served, good enough quality, Maltese influences
  • Really big business class cabin, looked to be 9 rows... as I recall, the upcharge was in the neighborhood of €70 and that's worth it to me to have a meal and no one sitting next to me.
  • Plane seemed fairly old. None of the personal air vents worked! First time I've ever seen that. Most seemed stuck shut and the ones that opened had no air flow at all. There was ventilation from the floor vents but it still got rather stuffy by the end of the flight.
  • Boarding process was "we're suddenly ready to board. business class board immediately. we'll wait until about 2/3 of you are boarded then call scrum boarding for everyone else and hope for the best"
Conclusion: Experience was fine, price was ok, no real complaints, just not my favorite experience ever.
