2 cancelled threads
Valuable threads where peoples' lives are in potential danger...and you cancel the threads???? Most people check FT miles first and foremost, that is why the info was posted here!! Wake up!! Idiot.....
|
I'm sorry if you were offended that your thread was one of the two that was closed.
In both cases, there posts were regarding Southern California airports being closed due to fires. In both cases, I did not 'cancel' discussion. I did not DELETE the posts. I pointed folks to currently active posts on the same subject in more appropriate places on Flyertalk -- TravelBuzz and In the News. And I closed the threads. They remain currently on page 1 of MilesBuzz. As mentioned before, when you disagree with a moderator's actions you can email the moderator directly. (A poster in the DL forum emailed me yesterday about a thread I had closed there. I took the feedback seriously and reopened the thread. The poster had a perspective that I did not.) If emailing the moderator directly doesn't get you satisfaction, you can post in the Only Randy Petersen forum or email Randy directly. The MilesBuzz forum is for discussion of miles and points -- not for discussion of individuals or board policies. Personally, I have a pretty thick skin so don't mind too terribly being told Originally posted by IMStill4Travel: Wake up!! Idiot..... In the meantime, I am going to move this thread to the Only Randy Petersen forum if you'd like to take this discussion further -- since MilesBuzz! is for Discussion of the latest frequent flyer program buzz... Gary aka gleff MilesBuzz and Delta moderator |
Gary,
Thanks for keeping the board clean and orderly. You made the right move... And in case you did not catch it in the first post on this thread, THANKS for all you do... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif William |

Gleff, I have my own opinion of who is the 'idiot' in this exchange - and he owes you a public apology. Keep up your good work!

Yup. Keeping the FT boards clean takes precedence over all else in life. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif
Map of SoCal fires as of Sunday, October 26 midafternoon By the way, has FTer PremEx been heard from? He lives in San Dimas. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Kathy |
There are COUNTLESS threads on this subject. Too many, IMHO.
Why would we want to clutter up MilesBuzz over something that is NOT Miles related????????????????? [This message has been edited by CameraGuy (edited 10-27-2003).] |

"Countless" threads on the subject? Hardly. There are a few.
There was one in Community which just got locked, since it has nothing to do with FlyerTalkers getting together. By that same logic, all the "Happy Birthday" threads in Community should be locked, unless of course they are invitations to a FlyerTalker's birthday party! Ditto all the "congratulations" threads, job-seeking threads, etc. Kathy |
More expert advice ...
If that thread in Community was posted as a ...'SoCal Flyertalkers Fire Emergency sign in if you're OK,... my guess is it would have been allowed. This would have been similiar to PremEx's thread post 9/11. But since the thread in question was more along the lines of a report, the Moderator did the right thing in moving it. Dan BTW, this reads a lot better than some of the sarcastic remarks above. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Dan |

Why is it the Moderators duty to make suggestions???????
MilesBuzz is "Discussion of the latest frequent flyer program buzz..." Community is "The official get together page for the FlyerTalk community." There is NO rational for a thread detailing the SoCal fires to be in either forum. |

That is a good question. As are the idiotic "Welcome Back" Threads.
But, As long as Randy has no problem with those threads, and more importantly, the QUALITY of the moderation, then neither do I. It's Randy's forum. He is on record as supporting the moderators and their efforts. That's good enough for me. |

Milebuzz IS the first forum people go to so IMHO it would be nice to give some leeway... ------------------ Regards, V3 |
