Spell check
Randy,
I cannot spell worth a ****. How bout adding spellcheck to FT?????????? |
I suspect, but I might be wrong, that it would quite an expense.
How about running your post through spell-check on your favorite word processing software? Not that it would help differentiate between "its" and "it's", mind you http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Sorry, pet peeve of mine. |

Spell check is not an integral part of UBB, mikey1003.
As I advise folks at my office, create a desktop shortcut to Notepad or Word that will give you easy access to a reliable spellchecker from your Start Menu. From there you can cut-and-paste your post and run spell-check rather easily. Email me privately at [email protected] if you need further instructions. Welcome to the All-Purpose Spell Checker!
Thanks for trying out the All-Purpose Spell Checker (APSC) for Windows 95, 98, & NT. This program is designed to quickly and easily check the spelling of almost any plain text area of Windows. The writers web site is now defunct, but download it from here. http://www.geocities.com/horsebagger/spellcheck.html |
Reminds me of a friend who listed her job title as "poorfreader" in a newsletter masthead.

EPS I believe that you have found Arturo's spellchecker http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
And I am sure that he will probably post and state that he doesn't need a psellchecker. |
mikey, I would be happy with just having a preview feature that some bulletin boards have.

A quick search on www.tucows.com will point you to several spell checkers that integrate with your browser. There are also several Mac versions.
I once used this one: http://www.hotlingo.com/ and was very happy with it. [This message has been edited by ScottC (edited 01-06-2002).] |
If you can't spell, take up something of which you are capable.
Obviously, that does not include writing. Ever. |

Sorry to offend; thought it was fair advice overall, if a bit rude. If the person can't spell, it's clearly a bit late for any of us to teach him or her, and a spell-checker does not teach, as you know.
What is your advice? I look forward to it. |

Duncan, not all of us speak english or australian, and I for one can assure you that my Dutch is better than my english. Therefor I tend to use a spell checker when I need to. I hope I did not offend you with this information or waste any of your valuable time with my reply to you email. May I suggest that you also take up a hobby of which you are somewhat more capable, people skills or being nice doesn't seem to be quite right for you http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
