ANOTHER change by Latinpass!

Randy,

I found out on Sunday night (after being out of town for the weekend) that Latinpass added the "must be a member by the 19th of March" restriction. So, My wife registered, via their website, at 11:30PM PST on March 19th. She recieved a confirmation stating that she would recieve her number, via e-mail, on the day following her enrollment. She recieved that confirmation on March 20th. Latinpass is now refusing to allow her participation in this promotion, saying she didn't register until March 20th. There is nothing in their website stating that it must be done according to any specific time zone. The website DOES state that enrollment is instantaneous via the website. Can you help? Any thoughts?

Dear Randy,

Hope you can help us. There are a number of these cases similar to aflyer's -- see Buzz threads:

Did LatinPass kill the promo because of Today Show?
If you haven't enrolled in LatinPass yet...

And probably more who haven't posted notes on the board. The same thing also happened
to me as I registered two of us BEFORE the deadline but was told they received it at 12:58am on the 20th (58 min too late). I was going to write to the Director of LatinPass (whom they told me is):
Monica Romero
LatinPass
1600 NW 42nd Ave.
Miami, FL 33126

Do you think you might intervene with LatinPass on behalf of FlyerTalkers who followed the rules?

leroy11 Mar 26, 2000 11:47 am

I thought it was Guy Booth.

Randy Petersen Mar 26, 2000 12:11 pm

As you all know, I intervened once on your behalf in regard to a change and I'll do so again. I was surprised by this change, though i did support the "one bonus per member" statement they added. Let me see what kind of hell i can raise this time, it may take a little while. What if I could get just an excemption for those of you who contact me? I'm sure LatinPass is a little worried because thanks to FlyerTalk this has become a very popular program, maybe too popular. But let's see what can be done.....but no guarantees.....

dgolds Mar 26, 2000 1:11 pm

Randy: If it's not too late, could you please add me to your list? I'm still thinking of doing the LatinPass tango...

Sammy Mar 26, 2000 4:06 pm

Randy,
Could you also add me to your list. Thanks!

GoldenEra Mar 26, 2000 4:39 pm

Randy: If you are still adding members to your list, please sign me up as well. Actually that is two of us who want to go. We tried to sign up online on the 03/19 but the LP website was not working.

thesilb Mar 26, 2000 10:20 pm

Randy, My wife and I would love to get added to the list if possible. Thanks if you can.

l etoile Mar 27, 2000 7:11 am

... one more addition, if possible. Thank you.

toppshelff Mar 27, 2000 10:35 am

Randy, I've had a Latin Pass for some time and am going for broke in May. Unfortunately, my travelling partner did not sign up in time, and may not go. I will still go, but it wouldn't be the same. Thanks, if you can help her. I'll send the details if you need them.

aflyer Mar 27, 2000 10:38 am

Once again, Randy, thank you even for trying. You are truly a champion.

That said....

I'd obviously like to see as many people as possible get this promo...however, it seems like there's some difference between those of us that signed up on March 19th (but in the WRONG time zone) and those that simply missed the boat all together. It seems like perhaps Latinpass might be more willing to budge if only a small number of people (those in that 1,2 or 3 hour window of time on March 19/20) were to ask to be allowed into the promo, as opposed to EVERYONE that just WANTS to be let in late.

Once again, I'd love it if they let EVERYONE in...and I think they should...but I'm concerned that it weakens the argument when the bandwagon gets TOO big. Any thoughts?

leroy11 Mar 27, 2000 11:16 am

Agreed - LP should let those in that enrolled by midnight in their time-zone because of the vagueness of their wording.

Old Gold Mar 27, 2000 11:48 am

Thank you Randy, for your concern and offer to attempt to intercede on behalf of your loyal followers!

I was one, of I assume many, who attempted to register on-line on the 19th with out success, in the afternoon, here in the US, so there should be no question of the time zone. Unfortunately the website was not accepting registrations at that time.

I have sent you an e-mail with my request to be included on your list, and a special offer!

Tango Mar 27, 2000 3:08 pm

Randy: I know of several people who signed up on the 19th but were caught up by the time-zone glitch. It should not be to hard for the LatinPass people to establish at what time of day people signed up. To be fair to all time zones, the 19th became the 20th at 6:AM East Coast time. Anyone who signed up after that should not be considered.

Angus Mar 27, 2000 6:08 pm

Randy,
*If* you can do it, could you add my name (travelling with my father & brother)..

Thanks!

teacher Mar 27, 2000 10:10 pm

Thanks Randy. If you can do it, please put me down for 3. Thanks again.

toppshelff Mar 28, 2000 7:43 am

Randy, I must agree with some of the comments above...If you open the door too much, the whole world may come in, and the consequences to the LP program may be profound. Therefore, I withdraw my request, and recommend that only people on the 19th/20th bubble be considered.

l etoile Mar 28, 2000 8:08 am

I'm with topshelf ... I withdraw my request as well.

bthompson Mar 28, 2000 7:16 pm

randy,
the more the merrier for your list. can you please add me. I spoke to the Ramos chick via email on march 21 and she told me no after i begged her to let me be a part of it. "no exceptions" thank you,
BT

Hi Randy,

Just thought I might check to see if any progress with LatinPass. I will be travelling to South America in June and was going to make arrangments soon so just wanted to find out if LatinPass was budging. Thanks!

Tango Apr 8, 2000 11:44 pm

Has anyone who got caught up in the time-zone diffrence been able to convince LatinPass to qualify them for the bonus? I am not talking about people who enrolled on the 20th, only people who enrolled after 9pm West Coast time on the 19th.

teacher May 3, 2000 11:10 pm

Randy,

Just thought we'd see if you made any progress with LatinPass?

Tango: I have not had any luck as one who got caught up in the time-zone diffrence on the 19th.

aflyer May 4, 2000 12:46 am

I'm still waiting too. Randy? Have you forgotten us few?

Thanks!

Randy Petersen May 4, 2000 4:35 pm

Actually, I went to Miami on Monday this week to meet with LatinPass in person to look voer what's going on. Needless to say, this has been a real challenge to them. The topic of adding people was among those i adressed with them, but no solution as of yet. I'm going back to meet with them this coming Monday, again in person and with the hopes of getting a clear answer. Thanks everyone for your patience, I'm trying to be diplomatic with them......

aflyer May 4, 2000 10:41 pm

Thanks for the update, Randy! good luck in Miami!

AusTXHiker May 7, 2000 10:28 pm

Thanks Randy for your efforts. We will be looking forward to your next update.

I do have one suggestion if it is not too late. Can you ask the good folks at LatinPass to start making account balances and account activity available online? With today's technology, this should not be an extremely trying endeavor. Thanks!

Otakar May 9, 2000 4:20 am

Randy:
My suggestion is just to forget the GUY BOOTH buisness, as you can see in my other posts, YES you can use my name OTAKAR he knows better, what I mean no buisness with the Booth gang!!!

cy-gone May 13, 2000 2:05 pm

Randy,
Has the latest meeting with Latin Pass taken place yet. I was not certain if it was scheduled for last week or this week. I am very greatful for the time and effort you have put into this matter, and realize that you are doing us all a very big favor. The tone of recent postings has many of us who are still contemplating, and other who have completed mileage runs, a bit aprehensive. I look foward to your next Latin Pass posting and wish to thank you again.

aflyer May 16, 2000 10:55 pm

Randy...

Just wondering if there's an update? Pretty soon it's going to be a moot point, as it will be too late to make plans for the promo...But even a "well, I tried, but they didn't budge" would be appreciated.

Thanks again, Randy!

teacher May 26, 2000 10:10 pm

Hi Randy...

Second aflyer's request. Any update?

Tango May 27, 2000 10:06 am

I think LatinPass is going to ignore this issue realizing the clock is about to run out. Most people will need to get to/from Miami and these fares start to get very expensive without a 14 day advance purchase. If LatinPass does not respond by June 7th, your chances are as good as nil.

The real issue is LatinPass refuses to acknowledge that there is a timezone issue. Every other airline understands this. When a fare sale ends at midnight, all airlines will honor the sale until every time zone has passed midnight no matter where their main frame is located. The LatinPass computer shows the exact (down to the minute)time when people enrolled. It would not be very difficult to allow people who enrolled by 6AM Eastern time to participate in the bonus.

RANDY - What ever happened at the 2nd meeting?? There have been numberous postings asking this and no reponses. Please use your own board to communicate.

As to those that missed signup by hours, forget it. You will likely find it will cost too much without advance planning and if you get a cancellation during last day or so, you will really be upset. I agree - LP is ignoring the situation as time is about gone. What they should have stated: Any signups effective immediately will not be able to get the bonus and then released the statement.

doc May 27, 2000 8:05 pm

Easy, please http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif It's not Randy that changed the rules! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I for one, had planned to reorganize my schedule in order to go, along with my family, for a "leisurely mileage run" during Spring break. The way the promo was run- from the beginning- and my resulting lack of faith in it, lead to a "quiet pass"!

Very sad http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif and perhaps my loss- millions of miles! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

But it's NOT Randy's fault! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif

craz May 28, 2000 10:21 am

DOC,I agree w/u its NOT RANDYs fault. However the posts above yours are also correct-Randy did write he's gonna have another meeting with them I believe 'next week' and then he'll get back to us.Even if that meeting NEVER took place for what ever reason many people are waiting to hear what Randy has to say(when E F Hutton speaks....) it might have been nice just to see a post from saying nothing yet folks. Randy didnt make or change the rules and I feel he went beyond the call of duty to have flown to MIA to start with to see what the story was w/LP! And to see if there was in fact anything he could do to help those that were left out in the cold.

aflyer May 30, 2000 11:48 am

This is getting downright spooky, how Randy's not saying ANYTHING to all of us in this post. NOTHING is mentioned in ANY way about that second meeting. Have we been abandoned? RANDY!?!?!?!?!

MileJunkie May 30, 2000 2:36 pm

could it be - he's traveling? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

aflyer May 30, 2000 7:31 pm

milejunkie....
no...it couldn't! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Randy has replied to a number of other posts on the boards in the past few days and weeks...so clearly he's reading the boards. This meeting was supposed to take place several weeks ago. I'm sure that there's some good reason that Randy has not replied...but I'm sure curious what it is. I do know that it's not becuase he's on the road, though.

SAPMAN Jun 6, 2000 2:41 pm

I agree that Randy owes us at least a short note as to 1) if he had the 2nd meeting (if not, why), and 2) if he did, what occured.

He has been on the board as one can tell in other threads. And one would "think" he would always take a looks at the Only Randy Petersen threads first.

One other comment. Randy states that he thinks LP is stable and will honor its committments -- but the miles in LP are not covered by his Award Guard program. Concerns?

Although I hope it does not happen, I wonder if LP will "disband" and claim the member airlines decided to each do their own FF program (which some already have). July 1 is getting close.

vindesante Jun 6, 2000 2:46 pm

Well, Randy must be reasonably confident of the ability of the LP program to deliver on its bonus miles, since he too has decided to invest his time and money in his own million mile run.

Bringing this back to the top...hoping Randy will respond soon.
