Bidding on Priceline

Whhat's the lowest bid you have submitted or would submit on priceline for a hotel room at/in a major airport/city?
What's your lowest successful bid in priceline for a hotel room in a major city?

My lowest successful bid was $30 at PHX, can;t ecall name of the chain.

I bid $10 for a room at YYZ. Now it won't let me bid again. :D

What did I do wrong? :p

Gotten the Renaissance at EWR a few times for $35. Not bad for a 3.5* hotel.

Did you know we have a forum here for bidding sites?

Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies

I recall reading that Priceline had minimum bids for each star level (i.e. something like $25 for 3*, $30 for 4*). I'll see if I can find that as I thought I had it stored somewhere.

Here's an FT thread from last year that covers minimum bids. The last post in it may be what you're after.

Hotel has a variable cost of having a room occupied for one night. Each of them has a sunk cost of an"unsolded" room. These are used to calculate how much to let the unoccupied room get discounted to.

You can only bid every 24 hours. You are locked out from doing the same thing, from when you did it until the 24 hours is up.

Depending upon what star level you are bidding and what the other zones at YYZ have, there can be ways to get more bids in during a single session. The concept is referred to as "free re-bidding".

You have to wait the full 24 hours from the last thing you did. So don't poke at it again, or that clock will reset and you will be locked out even longer.

Is either of the two airport zones OK with you?

If you post in the Canada - Priceline area of www.betterbidding.com, and tell them what you already bid and what you are trying to do, they can give you more bidding advice. Be sure to tell them the zones you want, the star level you are bidding, your date(s), and some indication of your maximum budget.
