Refund on xONEx

Hi there,

If I decide to buy a xONEx ticket from The Netherlands, will I get a full refund if I decide to cancel it before I depart? Even if the ticket is issued?

If so, how does the refunding process work? And how long does it take before the amount is refunded?

Thanks!

You are entitled to a full refund less any "service fees" as the Netherlands is in TC2:

16. VOLUNTARY CHANGES/REROUTING/PENALTIES

...
(b) Cancellations and Refunds
(1) Prior to departure
(a) Origin TC1
(1) Before ticket issuance - full refund
(2) After ticket issuance - 10 percent of ticketed amount
(b) Origin TC2/3
No penalty
...
-------------
Local service fees may apply

As for the refunding process, that depends upon the entity (Agent?) you purchase through.

I have a DONE4 ex-JNB (TC2) booked for departure this May. Mindpearl have advised that the rules changed on 1 November 2008 such that there is a penalty for cancellation, regardless of the region of departure. (Previously, TC2 and TC3 incurred no penalty.)

This DONE4 was ticketed on 4 November 2008 and I was careful to download and save a copy of the rules as they were then. According to that document, as at 4 November, the rules hadn't been updated and there was no penalty for cancellation in TC2.

Whilst the current techincal rule sheet lists the 5% cancellation penalty for business/first class itineraries in TC2, I can't find anything on the sheet that indicates when it was updated.

What are options? How do I prove to AA that when I booked on 4 November the rules hadn't been updated? (No intention of cancelling at the moment, but I'd like to be prepared in case I do.)

I have a copy of the PDF I generated that from, it is dated 1Jun08.

Look here for a version dated 14th November. (thanks christep)

That would be great, Serfty. Thanks.

pandaperth, I may have misunderstood your post but I just accessed your link and found the new cancellation penalties on page nine. Incidentally, whereabouts do you find the date on the PDF documents?

serfty Feb 4, 2009 7:46 pm

Maybe you need to refresh or clear your caches ... I cannot see any date on the .pdf ...

Yes. Clearing the cache did it. I now see the latest version - dated 2 Feb 2009.

To see the date - right-click, then Document Properties

Thanks, Pandaperth. The rules I have saved are dated 4 November 2008, in the properties dialogue box.

Am I correct that the refund rules apply based on the date that the ticket was issued, not on the date that the refund is requested?

christep Feb 6, 2009 5:49 pm

Correct - the rules that apply to your ticket are those that applied when you bought it. That fixes the contract.
