xONEx Fare Hike?

Just spoke to the AA RTW desk, finalizing an AONE4 departing August 24th from CPT. The agent told me that they're half expecting a OWE rate hike to be effective tomorrow morning simultaneously with the Circle Pacific hike which has already been announced.

Anyone hear anything else? Unfortunately, I doubt that I can get this fared by DUB and then ticketed by Mindpearl before tomorrow. Ugh.

Nothing on cxagents as of 00:05 HKT August 1st.

Or on Sabre.

The folks on the RTW desk have been expecting a hike since early July. Everyone I talked to basically told me to ticket asap. I thought it was going to happen on the 15th so I booked and ticketed before then.

Now, I did ask if I made the reservation and got the pricing from them, whether the pricing would hold even if OW changed RTW pricing and I had not ticketed. They said that pricing would hold for 5 days from when I made the reservation (didnt get in writing but I've never had an issue with AA RTW before).

I should have mentioned that your situation is a bit different but for others in US thinking about a XONEX, they may want to book with AA RTW tdy, can always cancel if there is no price hike.

Can you use a travel agent in these various countries to ticket?

Update

Just spoke to the AA RTW desk again. They are, indeed, expecting an xONEx increase effective at midnight, but no one has anything definite yet, and she emphasized that she is merely repeating the talk around her office. My AAgent also told me that as long as I get the rezzy completed and fare requested before midnight, it will be priced at the old (i.e., current, pre-August 1 increase) fare in the event of an increase. She said that they honor the fare in effect at the time that the rezzy is completed and faring is requested.

10% to 16% increase on many xONExs

Just a quick scan - looks like 15 - 16% ex-N America, 10 - 15% ex-Europe, many Asian origins relatively unchanged in D and A. MRU is no longer a great origin; S Africa up but still under US$6K for DONE4.

More analysis later.

CX puts it thus:

  Panama/Japan
2. Remove seasonality ex-UK/Ireland
3. Revise stopover fee for Circle Pacific/Circle Asia/SWP Fare
4. Revise oneworld Explorer Fare Catagory 04

Fare rules of Global Explorer, oneworld Explorer Fare/oneworld Circle Trip
Explorer Fare/oneworld Circle Pacific Explorer Fare/ oneworld Canadian Circle
Pacific Explorer Fare/ oneworld Circle Asia and SWP Explorer fare are revised.

So guess the AA RTW folks were right about this one. The above rates dont sound so bad relative to the Circle Pacific hikes last month. But guess we need to see the details.

DONE4 ex SA has gone up from ZAR 39950 to 45000, but AONE4 has gone from ZAR 51990 to 66500 (almost 30%!).

Thanks for the details, Gardy. AONE3 only up $200? That's not so bad, but AONE4 from South Africa now over $9K? Just got mine under the wire last night at the old price, but this is going to hurt.

New version of the One World Explorer technical rule sheet is on the OW web site. Reading through it now - first new item I've noticed is:

4.(j)Travel between Japan and Brazil on a single flight number is considered travelling Asia-North America-South America through three continents
Still reading...
