KVS gives ex-SA 43318 and 64010 ZAR for DONE4 and AONE4 respectively. Is there some local taxes missing or where does the difference come from?

ZAR prices (in ZAR) and change from old prices
(Source expertflyer)

Code:

    4        5        6
LONE 19700  22700  26600
DONE 45000  51500  60500
AONE  66500  76500  90000

      4        5        6
LONE 6.5%  3.2%  (1.8)%
DONE 12.6%  13.7%  14.2%
AONE  27.9%  15.9%  17.2%

Mauritius also up substantially - pretty much in line with South African increases (business US$100 cheaper than SA, first US$500 cheaper) (expertflyer doesn't provide local currency data)
Japan and Phillipines unchanged

All fares are available through drop down boxes (country by country) through the OW website:

The drop-downs haven't been updated yet.

Yes, UK and Germany/Euro Zone prices have gone up. LONE4 ex-Germany is up EUR50; LONE4 ex-UK (seasonality abolished) is up by GBP60 over the previous LLONE4.

svellmann Aug 2, 2008 5:53 pm

thanks for the info.so seasonality abolished means its 1449 gbp anytime, right?still works out as the best LONE4 fare in whole Europe I guess.

LONE4 ex-LHR is 1,549 pounds.

A LLONEWC4 is 1,389 pounds, a LHONEWC4 is 1,449 pounds. The 3-continent equivalents are 1,179 pounds and 1,289 pounds

Done some spot checking on the WearyBiz spreadsheet and expertflyer.

Countries with increases:
Australia
China
Europe (all common EUR countries)
New Zealand
South Africa
South America
Sweden
United Kingdom
United States

No changes:
Hong Kong
Japan
Korea
UAE
Vietnam

(nb. spot check only - please correct any errors)

Australia is up $500 for a DONE4, so now close to US$10500. I thought with the price being so high here already and QF charging a fortune in taxes they would have kept this one stable. Oh well.

rule changes

Pandaperth good pick up, although it is not much of a change as it is impossible to get a d or a class fare on the jl47/48, so not too significant just another example of the rules changing for the benefit of oneworld. Cant imagine though this flight was costing them much as there is only ever lone availability and who wants to sit in economy for 24 hours.

New version of the One World Explorer technical rule sheet is on the OW web site. Reading through it now - first new item I've noticed is:

Quote:
4.(j)Travel between Japan and Brazil on a single flight number is considered travelling Asia-North America-South America through three continents

Indonesia @ $5928 and $8198?

A quick and somewhat random stroll through EF yields some interesting information (all prices in US$). AONE3 ex-US up only $200, from $11,400 to $11,600. AONE4 ex-SA now $8,811. MRU now much higher at $9,416. AONE3 ex-Japan now $8,891, only $80 more than SA, but saves a lot of flying if you're going to South Africa just to buy the ticket, as many do. AONE3 ex-Poland is $15,221? Geez, that seems steep. Mexico same as US. AONE3 ex-Qatar $8,927, doesn't seem too bad IMO, particularly when compared to ex-Dubai which is $11,059. Interesting, too, that the ex-Bahrain AONE3 is $10,610. The BA flights LHR-DOH stop briefly at BAH both ways, yet the AONE3 from BAH is nearly $1,700 more than from DOH? Go figure.

The OW drop down table doesn't seem to be updated yet. In any case, I find EF more useful because it does the currency conversion for you, where OW lists fares in local currencies.

Where a fare is listed in a local currency, this is the actual rate.

While E/F can be made to give results in USD; this is an approximation based on recent exchange rates.

I find it more accurate to get fares in the local currency and then check the current exchange rate.
