MA transatlantic Business Class

Has anybody got any experience of MA's transatlantic Business Class ?
For a New Yorker, they might come as a handy and cheap alternative to AA's service or lack thereof, but I understand that they are lagging in the seating and IFE areas on B 767s. Their European product is good, though.

Well... !! Judging by the enthusiastic replies, finding seats on MA transatlantic should not be a problem...

If you try it, I hope you'll report back. Thanks.

I've posted some details on MA J (probably in the other airlines forum about a year ago). It is a below-EI standard J, but also priced low (typically 30% of AA J price). In fact often cheaper than BA WTP, so think of it as a super WTP service. Bit of a waste on an OWE ticket, though. Food/drink is good, crew try hard, and operations are surprisingly reliable given the MA fleet of 767s is 2, soon to be 3, aircraft. MA has always offered big incentives of various kinds to fly them TATL in J (it probably is the fastest way to Emerald, for example, but by invitation only so you cannot game them).

Keep in mind that you wont get elite bonus on MA

Why is that and how is it different from IB, AY or CX ? (BA out of US, I know...)

is it possible that these are us-bud prices only?

the checks I made for bud-jfk for example all resulted in something like 2K euro.

It's just the way it is; that is how they [half] joined OW: you do get miles and points, but no AA elite bonus for MA or JL. See aa.com for the details.

MA and JL don't give elite miles. All the other OW members do.

Including the new member RJ, so it's not necessarily something about having just joined:

Interesting.

They completed joined OW, it's just AA does not give bonus miles on MA fares which has nothing to do with the rest of OW. Bonus miles are not common within OW's frequent flyer schemes especially when crediting partner flights.

Well, it does, IMO, because the reason AA does not give status bonus for JL and MA, like it does for all the other OW airlines, is that JL and MA refused to play along well established agrements when joining. For AA to give this bonus, as I understand it from my reading of the AA forum (that is all the backup information I have, if it is wrong I'd welcome the new information) it is necessary that the partner airline agrees to the arrangement; JL and MA didn't, and that is why I put the 'half' in [], attempting to imply their effort when joining was kind of 'half hearted', probably due to financial restraints, I don't know, but I do know their benefits, on entry, are not like the rest of OW airlines, at least from the perspective of an AAdvantage member.

Viajero, I'm almost certain you're correct in this case--it's the decision of MA and JL to do this. And I'll echo the comments that it's a real shame, as getting elite bonus miles on partner airlines is one of OW's big advantages for me, and I imagine for others as well.

BAEC will give tier point for eligible JL, MA, and RJ flights. I wonder why reciprocal arrangements could not be made with AA. It seems to defeat one of the purposes of the alliance.

WearyBizTrvlr May 26, 2007 6:52 pm

AA does give EQM/EQP for MA flights, just not the elite mileage bonus.
