Well, it does, IMO, because the reason AA does not give status bonus for JL and MA, like it does for all the other OW airlines, is that JL and MA refused to play along well established agrements when joining. For AA to give this bonus, as I understand it from my reading of the AA forum (that is all the backup information I have, if it is wrong I'd welcome the new information) it is necessary that the partner airline agrees to the arrangement; JL and MA didn't, and that is why I put the 'half' in [], attempting to imply their effort when joining was kind of 'half hearted', probably due to financial restraints, I don't know, but I do know their benefits, on entry, are not like the rest of OW airlines, at least from the perspective of an AAdvantage member.
Again, I should stress that bonus miles are not a feature of most programmes and it will be up to the discretion of the home carrier to award, not the partner airline. As it is most only give a bonus on their own miles and I know the BA only gives a bonus to QF and QF only gives bonuses to BA and AA. Also remember that AA's is not the only OW FF programme. There are 9 other member carriers! ;) |
My point, noted in the link I posted earlier, was that you did get them on AA/AS/BA/CX/FI/IB/LA(+ affiliates)/QF/RJ. MA and JL seem to be holdouts, but it may be that there's something additional they have to do and that will be completed later.
While it may not be common in the other programs, it is common for AAdvantage. |
