Please help update OneWorld Explorer Ticket FAQs
The OneWorld Explorer FAQ was put together in 2004. It was correct at the time it was written, but changes have subsequently occurred. We've had someone as recently as today quote part of it. Unfortunately it was inaccurate information and had wasted some of their time in planning a trip..
Viajero just gave me a number of edits, which I have made. Would those of you who are experts on the rules take a look and see if more changes should be made? I am particularly looking for needed changes in posts 1 and 2. Please post changes in this thread; I will then edit the master thread. Thank you for your help. SanDiego1K OneWorld Moderator |
The airline affiliates allowed for OWE fares have changed significantly.
For AA: AmericanConnection service is operated by one of the following independent carriers: Trans States Airlines, Inc., Chautauqua Airlines, Inc., and Corporate Airlines, Inc. American Eagle service includes flights operated by Executive Air. For BA: BA Connect has rebranded some of the subs (not sure which). For QF: Jetstar (JQ) is allowed if a QF codeshare (but not as JQ code). |
In my opinion the 2nd line of the FAQ should be a link to the OWE rules at one of the extraction sites, with a caveat that the official rules change frequently and the FAQ is a summary of the rules and not always accurate.
This would make using the FAQ from scratch a lot easier. Too bad the Oneworld site doesn't show the OWE fare rules correctly (and has even more inaccuracies than the FAQ). |

QF flights operated by "AUSTRALIAN FOR QANTAS" are now apparently eligible. I wonder if this should be explicitly mentioned in the FAQ...

• As per this and following posts, christep has made available a current copy of the CX rules here: http://www.christen.demon.co.uk/CXRule/. This page includes link to the Cathay Pacific CircleTrip, CircleThePacific, Global Explorer & OneWorld Explorer rules. • Also, the revised AA rules have been published by kanebear in conjunction with darren in one FT post by and can be found here: Rules: OneWorld Explorer Fare Update 01JUL06 (with 01JUL06 Pricing here: Pricing: OneWorld Explorer Fare Update 01JUL06). I believe all should be congratulated on making the information readily available. ^ |

To be added to the list of restricted 'long' flights:
Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia. |
Linking to a "higher authority" has a couple of disadvantages - primarily, the original language isn't always very clear, so in some significant areas a newbie would be left with questions rather than answers. Oldbies too, sometimes, like yours truly.
A nit, the airline's all-caps teletype format (when will they get over that???) and general formatting isn't particularly legible in a PC world. Finally, isn't it true that the OW rules as published by the several OW carriers differ from one another? e.g. BA recently decided to invent a bunch of "WC" fares to handle their disagreement with AA (?) over eastern-bloc fares. |
Perhaps we should add a Q&A about this rule:
Code:
30N BAGGAGE |
In the case of handwritten tickets this problem has caused grief to some in the past, so perhaps we should add a suggestion, or warning, to check that the issuing airline has in fact done the following:
Code:
104N . * WHEN A TICKET MUST BE HANDWRITTEN, IT IS |
Q: What tools are available for working out my itinerary and the airline timetables?
A) You can download the oneworld electronic timetable by clicking on this link which opens a .exe file, or from the AA website by clicking this link. The links are invalid A) You can download the oneworld electronic timetable/routing planning & validation tool by clicking on this link. The new link should be http://www.oneworld.com/travel_planning/home.cfm |
Vietnam
If I'm not mistaken, the CX HKG-SGN flight is now allowed. However, HAN is still forbidden I believe.
So, under Q: Are there any other restrictions that I have per region/continent?, the line about Asia should be changed to reflect this. Thanks so much for doing this SanDiego1K!!! ^^^ |
