Jetconnect flights valid for OWE?

Hi,

been getting some mixed messages.

The excellent sticky (and I mean excellent, it puts the OWE rules into plain English) here declares Jetconnect as a valid QF affliliate carrier for OWE RTW itineraries.

The oneworld site does not mention Jetconnect as a valid QF affiliate for OWE RTW itineraries.

The Qantas site does not mention Jetconnect as a valid QF affiliate carrier for the purpose of OWE RTW itineraries.

When you go to Jetconnect website, you actually end up at the Qantas website. Appears only QF flight numbers are bookable (though listed as "operated by another carrier" ).

I have always considered Jetconnect as QF Domestic NZ.

Can anyone confirm or deny Jetconnect as a valid carrier to fly when on a OWE RTW itinerary?

Thanks.

The Rules as published by CX in Hong Kong (and available here: http://www.christen.demon.co.uk/CXRule/ ) say yes Jetconnect is a valid Qantas affiliate - the only caveat is that all flights must be booked with QF codes.

Thanks Christep.

Had hoped to book AKL-ZQN on AA flight number but looks like no go. At least Jetconnect itelf is a valid carrier. :)

I can confirm that they are valid. I am currently holding a DONE4 with 3 segments on JetConnect. Of course the sad thing is that those book into L on the all-coach flights. :(

Thanks all, that's relieving to know, as NZ is an essential part of our planned RTW trip.

Whazzat? I was convinced that DONEx and AONEx, when forced to accept a coach flight, booked into a Y category. Wrong again?

It books into Y on American Eagle (the only AA flights that don't have F available). For other airlines the rules vary from year to year, but I think all book into L now (very annoying) except LA might still be Y (haven't bothered to check recently). This is a nasty feature of xONEx fares (L inventory is both hard to get on some routes and of course earns reduced mileage).

You can only book the AA flight number if you also have an AA codeshare on the international segment (into NZ). This is generally true of most other airline codeshares. The xONEx fare does let you book trans-ocean codeshares where they exist (so you can book HKG-AKL on BA for example, provided you fly BA into/out of HKG, for example).

Only vaguely related but hardly worth a thread: In hacking together a stroll through SWP I learned that LA has LTR between AKL and SYD. Whoda thought? It's a 3-class service and offered A4 for the day I checked.

That's thanks to open skies between Australia and NZ. Some great deals to be had on this route ;)

Fortunately the same doesnt apply to *A RTWs.
