rtw itinerary

Here’s a rtw itinerary for comment. Most of the places were picked out for personal reasons, but I would appreciate comments that might help maximize miles or suggestions of other places to visit that might be more interesting for one reason or another. Suggestions for other starting points would also be welcome.

This would probably be in first class, beginning sometime around September.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

If you have considered that LAX-SJO is seasonal, I'd say the itinerary looks valid. The only comment I'd make is that there are quite a few 'non-F' segments, a pity when buying an AONEx.

be careful about the slc-nyc segment. you may need to connect in an AA hub which will put you over the 20 segment limit.

Nice catch. I checked various dates in the future but wasn't able to find a direct flight (single flight number) for this route.

In order to make slc-nyc in two segments and still not go over the 20 seg limit, try syd-bom-hkg-nyc, to save the hkg-bom segment.

Also, I'm not sure if you can fly both mel-per AND per-syd.

(If this actually is possible, please let me know... I'd like to arrange such a thing for next month)

Yes, you can.

Keep in mind that the LAX-SJO segment certainly won't be optimum comfort. I'm doing both LAX-SAL-LAX and LAX-SJO-LAX - but now question my sanity. Both outbound flights leave about midnight and are on 757s. 5 hours on a narrow body plane overnight - ugh.

I assumed that was Salt Lake City (SLC) and not Santiago (SCL). Turns out AA has a flight SLC-ORD-EWR that has one flight number.
